Title: Odd Issue With Avi's
Post by: KrInEn on August 02, 2009, 09:26:00 PM
Ok, I could not find anything in the forums about this and the search function has not worked for me in a long time (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) Gives me a weird red error message. Anyhow here goes:

Once in a while I will come across an avi file, movie or show 45 mins+ and the 360 will only play about 1.5-2 minutes and then stop. Is it just encoded wrong? Or is there another tip that someone may have for me? I forgot to mention I get the same error if I stream in through windows media player or if I throw it on a thumb drive. Usually its a TV show and all of the others from the same release group work just fine. Odd

Thanks ahead of time!

wow i really should be on this site more often to help ppl i've run into all these issues. Ok what you need is the program "mpeg4 modifier" its free. Load your avi and then click the unpack option, then save. Remeber to rename it or put it in another location than the orig file or it will give some dumb error. The problem has to do with the packaging of the avi you dl'd

the problem might be with your codec pask, download a newer codec pack and check it out

I have had both these issues.  I never solved the one where the video goes black after 11/2 minutes

The issue I had with the error code was fixed by reinstalling the optional update that you install in order to play divx to start with.
