MCEBrowser v2.0 - Windows MCE Browser Plugin-- Posted by XanTium on March 7 22:17 EST
MCEBrowser is a plugin for Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition which allows you surf the internet using a Media Center remote control like the Xbox 360 (in case you missed: we previously talked about the first version of MCEBrowser). The Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 operating system is required to use this software.

What's new/fixed:
* Browse to home page or favorites
* Navigate favorites subfolders
* Enter a URL to browse to
* Scroll around within web pages
* Highlight and select links within web pages to navigate
* Form support - fill out edit boxes, combo boxes, list boxes, select buttons, etc.
* Mouse and keyboard support
* Zoom in and out for 10-foot style surfing
* Compatible with Media Center Extender devices
* Multilanguage support (English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, German, Spanish, Dutch)

That's nice. The only con I see is the shareware version sad.gif Not that I'm against it, but I think I'll wait for a free version of it.

But nice work!

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) easy file mod and you no longer get the bar on top and you save $10 for your next XBox360 game which are $60 so , you gotta need those extra $10 they arent $50 anymore.

I'm not sure if this could be it but, as part of the instalation process, it gives you two options:
use for your self or everyone. If you chose just for yourself there is a chance it might not share the program
with other devices (i.e. 360)

no disrespect inteded but making people pay for this thing in order to get full screen and remove that stupid friggin bar as fucking greedy and wrong.

we dont charge for tools to hack the 360 or xbox or tools to do extra things with them and personally i think that this thread should be locked loaded and shot out the jetison tube until you remove that crap.

as for being member number 1 and all that,.. fine.. so be it you run the joint.. ok.. but come on.. charging for something ? when in the history of the xbox scene has something been a charge type of item..
i wont say anymore....

thats just my 2 cents worth

Oh I see  smile.gif ,  It's Windows Media Center Edition 2005.  I just did an upgrade from my current OS (XP Home) to  MCE 2005 so I didn't have to reinstall everything...

The browser software is now completely free.

Taken from the authors website:

QUOTE
MCEBrowser is FREE!
I'm not afraid to admit when I make a mistake, and charging for MCEBrowser was a mistake. So, I am correcting the mistake.

MCEBrowser is now free. You can download the new version (2.1) from the Software page. There will be no registration banner, no registration codes, no time-limited trial. Free, free, free. And it's going to stay that way.

Thanks to everyone who supported MCEBrowser by purchasing a registration code for version 2.0. I have refunded your money via PayPal. I am still accepting donations via PayPal for anyone who would like to contribute to the development of this software.

This is a great piece of software. Works really well and the zoom function is great.

It's kind of frustrating using that thing.  How come you don't implement a mouse pointer that u can move around with the 360 controller or remote controller so people can move to any link quicker and click on the link with a press of button.  I seen  a brower that have that feature and it's better than this.  But that's ok i don't use it much.

Ok. I have just installed the software last night and the MCE browser is tight. However i'm having problems with my keyboard and mouse.

I only have the standard remote for my xbox 360, not the media center one so I don't know if this makes a differance to anything?

Anyway, the keyboard and mouse i'm using is a Logitech Cordless Desktop EX 110 which goes through the USB on the 360. It's works perfectly on the 360 Dashboard but I can't get it to work on the MCE Browser version 2 that I have installed. Does anyone know what that's about. I thought you can use a keyboard and mouse with this version? If so what am I doing wrong or what do I need to configure? If not is there a version that does support this?

Thanks.

Kevin Peters

Found another one:

http://www.carbonele...wser/index.html

Here you can find another one  that works on both X86 and X64, AND the guy is working on a new version with remote functionality so you can browse with your gamepad or remote control. Still in beta and not working as it should, but this can be an alternativ.
