Free60 JTAG/SMC XeLL Hack for Falcon MotherboardsPosted by XanTium | October 5 12:13 EST | News Category: Xbox360 |
| |
A version of the Free60 JTAG/SMC Hack has been released for Falcon (v3) motherboards. This modified NAND image will boot your Falcon Xbox360 right into XeLL (which allows you to boot linux distros or run libxenon homebrew software) - just like the Xenon version released a few weeks ago. Update: this version of the hack also works on Opus (v3.1) motherboards.
From the readme:
Finally the Falcon JTAG Hack is here :)
This is newest XELL (compiled 05.10.09) inserted into 5770 Falcon-Kernel.
Don't wonder about the Filesize, its correct like that. It just flashes the beginning of the NAND so your console specific data like MAC adress will stay.
Of course you should have a working backup of your NAND before you proceed.
Just flash with: * LPT nandpro lpt: -w16 falcon_hack.bin 0 * USB nandpro usb: -w16 falcon_hack.bin 0
SMC-JTAG Hack Wiring DB1F1 ---|<|--- J2D2.1 RFUnit 2nd row, 2nd Pin ---|<|---- J2D2.2 J2D2.4 --------- J2D2.7

Many thanks to everyone who contributed to the development of Free60/Xell.

Where do I find out how to extract the key from the MB then. I have a console "Falcon" no RROD history, Benq drive where some dumb ass didn't extract the key and just went ahead and erased....
-
Sorty for the noob question. But is this something like a modded dashboard?
-
so for an old rookie who just came back into the scene how does this work.
I modified my box myself and I have an elite console question is will this work if so what are the steps.
-
Awesome, I can finally have an HDMI jap xbox now
Now I just need to figure out how to transfer my XBL DLC from my jap non hdmi box to the new HDMI one, without updating them on XBL. Any ideas?
-
this will still not work on xenon boards with newest kernel right? I accidentally updated in July and screwed my self. any news on that? I need to recover my DVD key.

Here's the closest tutorial I could find for DVD key recovery: http://forums.xbox-s...howtopic=690640
NOTE: For the JTAG part and Xell part make sure you use the JTAG ports and Xell hack for the Falcon motherboard instead of the Xenon.

Great news, maybe im wrong but I think there might be a lot more people out there willing to do this with Falcons.
Didn't expect to see a connection to the ring of light board!
I have an Jasper eagerly waiting for this hack if and when released. Hopefully by time it is released for Jasper even more code will have been written for the 360
This is amazing work
-
can we just flash the .bin to a cygnos chip and away we go?
-
Wonderful news!

Yup, just didn't expect one of them to be from the ROL PCB (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

keep up the good work
-
Great news!
Is it possible to use this method or the xenon one to extract the key from a zephir board?
-
When Tmbinc released the 1st hack he showed a demonstration video on what he called "a virgin console". Does messing with the DVD drive firmware before doing this hack interfere in any way?
I doubt it would but wanted to ask people who knew more
-
YES YES YES!!! THANK YOU SOO MUCH!!!!
I'm sorry but I have been having such a bad day today and this just brightened it up 10 fold!!! Thanks to everyone in the free60 project and at xboxhacker.net this freaken rocks!!!

No, you don't need the dvd-drive even.

great work guys!
since a few people have asked, i figure i'll take this time to remind everyone that if you installed the august 2009 dashboard upgrade, you no longer have an exploitable kernel, or a way to get to one.
-
My poor newly bought Jasper (bought before August) is just sitting there waiting to be violated!
Many Thank You's too all that are involved!
C'mon Jasper locations!

Can we use this in a Opus from SAT????
Thanks
-
Here comes the first nooby question.... what kind of resistance do we need for the points... one looks liek a plain wire, but the other two i cant recognize? any help please and thanks?(IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
Just did a quick search... the symbols are for diodes, just wondering what kind of diodes now...

So as that one guy said, only with a little intelligence here, why was the Zephyr board skipped ?
-
Yes!

zeyphr, falcon and opus can boot 5770 so this should work for all of them.

Thanks Someone that can finally answer the question of the day.....
So I guess we use the same jtag point on the zeyphr board as well???

I'm wondering this too the diagram and xbins doesn't seem to elaborate that much.

This is awesome, I can't wait for a Jasper release
-
Jasper next!!
Any news on XBMC 360?
-
Awesome. I have a Falcon and also a Jasper.
I am keeping the Falcon for Xbox Live and want to use the Jasper for homebrew so I eagerly await the Free60 exploit to be released for the Jasper 360's.
-
so does this work on zephyr or not?
-
QUOTE(JTPaintball @ Oct 5 2009, 08:16 PM)

so does this work on zephyr or not?
" Hacked SMC Code matching your Xbox Revision (called smc_hacked.bin here) ATM only available for XENON / falcon / zephyr / opus(as of recently) "
also, from what i have heard is only VGA will work after performing this. is that true?

use a resistor? or just bridge these points?
-
QUOTE(sofa king dumb @ Oct 6 2009, 01:38 AM)

jumper between two points and use switching diodes between the other two sets of points...
I used 1N4148 diodes... found them in an old power supply... lots of 'em
worked perfect for the xenon hack...

When i did my xenon last month, vga and component video worked. you might get overscan problems with cmponent though.
-
thanks Lush I also found a tutorial online already that confirms that the 1N4148 diodes work correctly, the guy who made the tutorial also had a video of a Falcon booting up with Xell. I wont post it here cause the guy also posted the hacked Falcon Xell as a download which I know is prohibited at X-S but I am just posting to confirm they work.
-
Make my day.
Thanks alot guys. I gonna try this.
-
Any one have a tut to where I would solder my printer port on my zeyphr mobo thanks

Read buddy read.
Same as Xenon. Only JTAG is different.

well sorry to be a noob but how can i tell if i have a falcon xbox or not?
-
Does anybody know if this XELL would work on 6683 kernel or do we need to wait for 6683 version?
In any case, great work!
-
zephyr hack is now out as well

to begin with, sorry for the noob question that follows:
from what I understand, these diagram shows the connections to be made between the motherboard and the RF module. but what are the connection points for the lpt cable? I read the xenon tutorial and I got those, but I can't find the ones for falcon. are they the same and I just need to add this new ones?
thanks in advance for the help

Originally posted here. This really should be added to the tutorial section. Took me a while to find it.
Seeing advancements like this brings a smile to my heart. I won't be doing the hack on my Falcon just yet, but I've stayed off Live to avoid the update since news of homebrew first came out. Once the homebrew scene matures a bit, I will absolutely jump on board. Kudos to the devs who are making this happen.

Won't you also have to avoid playing the latest games if they have a forced Summer '09 (kernel 84xx) update on them?

i my self have 3 units.
main unit is a falcon refubed unit from M$ from my main unit died that unit is online and updated
the other 2 of them i got for free. all i needed was cases. i got a halo case for free and picked up a halo hard drive case for $11. the other i picked up a white hdmi case for $14, both of the units have not been updated in a long time. both are falcon boards.
simple hack to do. built the lpt nothing hard 1 2 3 , solder in the wires if you want to go crazy add pin headers to the board i will be doing this with my 2nd unit.
i want to know is there anyway for a USB JTAG to do this work aswell as the lpt ?
why u might ask well i have a bunch of JTAGS and the newest one in my collection would be a USBJTAGNT i also have a USBJTAG and LPT JTAGS , also built many other jtags.
Vejita - no games to date have that update as they where all pressed before that date. i would belive we will be playing games soon off hard drive and with out updates on discs aswell.
Thanks to the tmbinc team
this is what the world has been waiting for.
i just can not wait for a XBMC360 that will be one of the best things to blow the unit away with. next after that would be KI emu , and other emus to follow maybe a DC arcade or home
the world will see soon

am I right in assuming that I just flash this .bin straight to my nand? Or do I have to do the building instructions to make a homebrew kernel on the free60 website?
