Posted by XanTium | September 7 21:03 EST | News Category: Xbox360

A new version of Snes9x Gx (SNES emulator) for Xenon/v1 Xbox 360 consoles using the JTAG Xell Hack has been released.

From the readme/nfo:
Quote

This version of snes9x fixes the ticking sound problem and also swaps the B & A buttons around.

Build also has wireless pad support so no more wired controllers needed.

Only currently running on the xenon xell hack. Support for other chipsets are in the works!
Thanks to snes9x-gx and tmbinc for releasing his version of the source.

even though I have a falcon, I wish I didn't update my kernel. I know I'm not the only one. I must try to get my hands on a xenon.

I hate to break it to you.. but with the amazing work that has been done and the work that is underway.. micro$oft has lost the grip completely.. it's only a matter of time before they find out how to crack the hypervisor on a stock console and take full control of a retail box without even opening the console as now the console is open to so many new people and with that the wall begins to fall at an increasing rate day by day...

I cant remember being so excited coming home from work to check the site for updates since xbox1.. I have now went out and bought 3 rrod xenons.. fixed them all gave them all upgraded heat sinks with arctic silver 5 and they all work perfectly fine.. stress tested them for 12 hours with gears 2 running non stop.. then dumped the nands made 2 backup copies to dvd and my external drives and flashed the nands with the hack.. all working great..

Great work guys.. beerchug.gif

Awesome,
Needs a UI where you can select games instead of just having 1 then it will be perfect.

Then you should come to Denmark. Yes Blockbuster STILL has NEW 20gb Xbox360s. Pretty lame if you ask me. But, just wait for the hack to come to a newer revision - if you have to buy a new version then get a Jasper NOW, while the stocked boxes haven't been updated to the new thingie. To make sure you don't get an updated one, I'd get a pro. White is much nicer than black anyway.

I think I have a Falcon or Zephyr as well. I bought a new Jasper for "normal purposes" and keep the F/Z for when the hack is released.

I know this may be a dumb question but all the answers are mixed up
What do i actually need to run this?
A Xenon v1 Xbox without the summer update and that cygnos thing to run the hack?
this correct? fill us in please biggrin.gif

You don't need a cygnos chip unless you want to go dual NAND. Because the latest update kills the ability for this hack to run, it's pointless. Nominate a 360 which you don't want to use as a retail unit any more (a banned console is ideal) then build a JTAG Parallel cable and flash the onboard NAND. I have 3 xboxs that are not upgraded yet however I will be performing this on all 3 soon. However I know this is off-topic but if someone could link me or if its even possible yet it would be WIN! 2 of the 3 360s have bad dvd drives, the keys are unrecoverable on the drive itself, is there a new way with the new exploits to get the encrypted key from the board?

Thanks.

BTW! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR WORKING ON THIS PROJECT, YOU PWNZ. I am excited to see where this will go.

Yes, the new XeLL exploit displays the CPU key at the startup. Using this information, you can run it against the dumped NAND in FlashTool to show the DVD key and DVD drive type (OSIG). More info here.

Back OT, I can't wait to try this once I get home tonight smile.gifsmile.gif The sound clicking was slightly irritating so will be nice to hear the difference. Analog support for the directional controls would be a blessing too as this shows up how bad the D-Pad really is on the 360 controller.

It's really good to see these frequent updates and improvements  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) . I can't wait for the other 360 versions to be supported.

It's pretty easy to do and you can even change your DVD key to whatever you like.....

I really appreciate the hard work that's gone into this hack, but I don't think it will ever really take off in it's current form. With only a few thousand people worldwide that would

a) have the knowledge and take the risk of doing this and
cool.gif not be able to play new games once the summer update/'bug'fix is mandatory

What I do hope however is that by being able to read/write to all models of xbox360s via this hack, that other exploits will be found. Sorta like the wii, once wii mode was accessible, all kinds of hacks and exploits started showing up, to the point where you can do pretty much anything you like with it now.

But major, major props to the guys who made this possible.

Cue Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'"  laugh.gif

Anyone know if the new Beatles Rock band has the dreadful update (it wants me to update but i dont know if it´s only a minimal controller update or the horrible, homebrew crippling update) i have the game and controllers ready but it wants me to update and i dont dare to smile.gif

Thanks a bunch
