libxenon now got support for making a cpu thread run a function. It's a bit rudimentary, but especially for emulators and games this approach should be "good enough".
Also I've added support to switch cpu frequency. That means that we can use all 6 threads at 3.2ghz now. The code is rather complex, and might not work perfectly, but results have been pretty nice here (finally no frame drops in snes9x, even with sound).
Simply call "xenon_make_it_faster(XENON_SPEED_FULL);" and it will switch to full speed.
Excellent!

Awsome. Not so awsome I updated the day before the warning was given not to update. Oh well. Maybe in the future they'll work something out for the many people that updated like I did.
Really awsome though about the snes emulator. Can't believe this came about so quick! Like 2 weeks ago it was no sound and no wireless support! Whoever does this is amazing!

Try different formatting, I know my kingston 2G datatraveler when formatted with windows will not show up in normal 360 dash (or for that matter on anything that isn't windows including xbmc, ps2sms, samsung tv usb input etc), but given the right format params under linux there are no problems whatsoever.

is anyone else getting a clicking noise when running this?? I know it's all new but damn is it annoying ..
wireless works 360 doesn't indicate a controller attached and controller just blinks like it's not connected but it is and works fine.

This is seriously becoming a very interesting topic indeed. I've resisted all urges so far to do anything to my beloved 360, unlike my xbox 1 which was modded to buggery. Just want to say many thanks for all the hard work that you guys are putting into free60 and associated apps, and like many others, am waiting with baited breath for that first glimpse of something that resembles xbmc.
kudos +billions

The addition of sound and wireless support is great news, I'll be checking this out later . I've been really enjoying messing around with the new 360 hacks. So far I've changed my region code/DVD key and messed around with Linux and the Snes emu. I hope we see a lot more stuff like this in the coming months .

Man, it is so great to see updates like this every couple days. Big props to the guys who are making homebrew on the 360 finally happen.
My 360 has been offline to prevent the update since I heard about these developments. Like several others, I haven't posted here in years, but this has me paying attention to the "scene" again. I am eagerly awaiting the day I can finally retire my original Xbox as my primary media center and start playing HD h.264 video under XBMC on my 360. Keep up the good work guys!

Not trying to piss anyone off, but this JTAG hack or whatever it is called and what relates to it is probably the only interesting thing I've seen in years. I find myself checking xbox-scene several times a day now, like in the good old days with the original Xbox. Before this hack it was all about: "Microsoft says this and that bullshit, Xbox360 outsells ps3 on X market and so on and so forth".
But NOW... Yippie!!

nice to see this type of development. i wonder if this in in HV mode or not. i am patiently waiting for unsigned xexs' then we can remove those awful ping limiters and use our consoles on XBC or kai . i cant wait to get back on xbc live is fun, but xbc was great for custom and modded game types.

Yeah... common sense would tell you that if there is no hacking news to speak of, they have to fill th efront page with related news right??
So, since this was just discovered a month ago, of course we will be seeing it more often.
Ill tell you what, to find out that htey have full sound and wireless support makes me giddy. This is a start to an awesome homebrew scene with less idiots then Xbox 1 because it will take more know how to pyll this off.
And did I see USB HDD support in there also? is there a limit? If not, Im going to be one happy f**ker when I can move all emulators from my Xbox 1 to a USB drive
Thanks to all envolved. The dvd drive firmware was a good start, but I want this more. The 360, in theory (memory permitting) should be able to get emulation up to ps2/dreamcast if implemented right.
All we need now is full gpu control and possibly nand acsees through other means.
Imagine being able to boot different kernals/dashes with a USB thumb drive like PS3 does with OS's

I used Snes9x GX, i.e. the Wii/Gamecube-Port, as a base. I didn't use much of the GC-specific code, but it gave me a good idea of what functions I have to implement. I don't yet have coded a UI, but it uses the GPU for scaling, USB for input (wired controller only so far), and runs on the bare metal (i.e. no linux, no hypervisor). CPU is still running at quarter speed, but there are no dropped frames.

I haven't updated my 360 or gone online with it since August 10th. Hopefully they will be able to create a package for people that are on kernels under the latest one (besides the two that work now).
I'm so excited for all of this development and can't wait until we have taken the 360 over like we did with the original Xbox.
There are so many Japanese 360 games I want to play on an NTSC-U 360.

I understand what I'm about to write has nothing to do with the thread in question, but I'm extremely interested in trying this out, but I'm totaly clueless on how to get it going on my xenon xbox 360, here is why.
in January 09, I had my 360 hard modded with the infectus chip, along with the daugherboard that helps with the degrading. 2 problems have happend at that time. 1st, I flashed the NAND with i believe 1888, and have the RROD. 2nd, team infectus never bothered to change their newer flashmod programs to work along with the degrader, so I was unable to downgrade my 360. My PC crashed not long after that flash, and I lost my original NAND.
So, I have a xenon 360, that gives a RROD, but it has a working infectus hard modded to it.
So my question is, am I able to still use my xenon 360 with this hack?

If it won't boot, you can't use it. RROD = DEAD, fix it or get another.

If the RRoD was a result of the bad flash then yes - you can reflash the NAND with the xenon-xell.bin file on xbins. You won't ever be able to use it as a retail 360 again but I doubt you're that bothered

I wish people would only post on stuff they know about. The typical moronic knee-jerk reaction of RRoD without understanding the cause.

FWIW I'm using a 2GB Sandisk Cruzer Micro, which works perfectly fine

I just want to ask a hypothetical question about the free60 hack and Xell.
At some point if there is a hacked M$ kernel so you can play games and run homebrew, will you still need to flash the DVD drive or with the hack is flashing the DVD drive not necessary?

For programming, it's recommended to use the 5 x 100Ohm resistors between the parallel port and the JTAG points on the motherboard. To actually run the XeLL exploit, you MUST have the 3 x 330Ohm resistors connected. If you flash the XeLL exploit and don't have the three 330Ohm resistors connected, you'll get E79

By programming, I think he means "writing to the NAND" (just how if you were to desolder a TSOP and use a programmer to read/write to it)

The latest update will prevent the XeLL exploit from running, so as long as you don't connect it to the internet for updates, you can pretty much do what you want with it.
You might want to think about a dual-NAND solution (i.e cygnos) if you want to retain 360 retail functionality.

I dont know why people believe that they must use 100 ohm resistors, but I have found that they are what causes the NAND not to be able to read and write too. I think it's best to not worry about them, and leave them off.

When you say almost all pre 83xx consoles are exploitable, what variants would prevent the few remaining from being exploited, general wear and tear, overheating etc?

You're not an idiot jessex. You're right, the day will come where we will be able to boot to a custom dash (the XBMC team announced the other day that a "private team" is already working on the 360 version) and hopefully kernel spoof to play the latest games that require it, so we retain all the functionality of our current 360's whilst adding a load of extra tit-bits.

Although this may be true for some it's not for others .. I believe that the nand and related components run at 3.3 volts and some but not **ALL** lpt ports run at 3.3 and some at 5 volts.. so you need to check your motherboard to verify exactly what is coming out and either if your at 5 volts add the resistors and if your at 3.3 or somewhere in that neighborhood leave them out.. fortunately my lpt port is at 3.3v and I had no need for them.. nand flashes perfectly every time.
so the moral of the story is...do your homework and adjust the instructions to suit your needs.

I really wonder why people are alwasy so quick in updating their systems. It really doesnt matter what it is, XBOX, PSP, etc... Its always the same.
The answer is obvious for the Xbox 360. You can't connect to Xbox Live without being updated to the latest dashboard.

The latest update is less than a month old, so you can't exactly expect it to instantly appear in new games, but when it does and if you update, then it will do the same thing as the downloadable update.

Sorry to burst peoples bubble but there isnt a private team working on XBMC being ported to the 360. They`ve misquoted spiff i think. its been talked about on the xbmc boards.

however, i am still 1888 not 2241, 2255, 2258, 2858, 4532, 4548, 4552, 5759, 5766, 5787, 6683, 6690, 6717, 7159, 7258, 7356, or 7357. since none of these were on any game disk i've played i assume that kernel updates are not delivered via game disk only dash updates. however this is an assumption hence me saying "i think only dash updates are on game disks".

I can guarantee you aren't still on 1888. You are probably misreading the version. If you post the entire version string from system information in the setup menus we can tell you which kernel you are using.

To actually run the XeLL exploit, you MUST have the 3 x 330Ohm resistors connected. If you flash the XeLL exploit and don't have the three 330Ohm resistors connected, you'll get E79
Matrinchris23 - Question. I obtained "xenon_hack.bin (16.98kbs)" and I flashed it to my NAND with the infectus chip. Now, I don't have the 3 resistors installed, and when I turned on the 360, the green light would just sit there (no xbox 360 intro) for about 10-15 seconds, then I get the 3 RROD. So I decided to run to Home Depot and get the screws/washers for the X-Clamp fix just to play it safe. I've done this on other 360's and have gotten them to work.
So I did the fix, baked the machine, got the RROD down to 2 lights. Shut it off for about 30mins. Tried turning the 360 on (without the 3 330Ohm resistors again) and I just a black screen (no 360 intro), and then 10-15 seconds, I get the 3 RROD.
So 2 questions.
1. Do I have the correct .bin file? cause i searched through #xbins and I couldn't find "xenon_xell_hack.bin" i only found & flashed "xenon_hack.bin"
2. If I do have the correct file, than is it normal for the machine to produce the RROD, due to the 360 missing those 3 330Ohm resistors? or am I really supposed to have the 360 run the into and get that E79 error?
Many thanks.

WOW you don't READ the 3 330 OHM resistors are a MUST. If not you will get the 3 red lights, just like you said. I hope you screwed your console up from baking it. You obviously know about the 330 ohm resistors you just choose not to use them. Since when did the real 3 RROD wait 10-15 seconds to show up, did you bother to flash the stock NAND back first? Man people need to follow the tuts, and read what needs to be done. Just because you have an infectus doesn't mean you don't have to use the resistors. If that was the case why wouldn't all that other console be hacked now, oh because they haven't released the points for the resistors.

Hmm, strange how I asked this question to Matrinchris23, (since he is the one that has been in discussion with me over this issue), and not some newbie who signs up, and thinks he knows everything. If you want to write crap at me or others, make sure you read whats going on first before you write bull!@#$
As for the resistors, I read somewhere you only needed them if you were flashing the NAND without a modchip (ie Cygnos or Infectus)

Haha kid you call me a newbie but yet you most likely watch my youtube videos and followed my diagrams for this haha. Maybe you should realize who your talking too. You are some what right but mostly wrong, resistors are not needed for flashing, and it's best without them. That is the 100 ohm resistors. As with all the guides and tuts, the 330 ohm resistors are required. I don't have to read the previous post to understand what is going on, you say that you don't have the 330 ohm resistors, so plain and simple it's not going to work. If you don't want to belive me, that's fine, but without the 330 ohm resistors your going to get no where and just keep having a RROD console. Wow guess I'm not some newbie who just signs up eh?
And I'm such a noob that, the 1020x786RGB bin that you probably used from xbins was upped by me because noobs like you cant read directions and understand how to flash it in the correct blocks.

You can say whatever you want Relapse75. There was no need for you to attack me like you did ealier, when you *still* havent got the full story on my 360.
I don't care if your Xport, Dark-Alex, or any other major developer that uploads stuff for people to obtain and use. Plain and simple, read up on someones issue, before you start rambling/talking down to someone, about stuff that you dont have all the facts on.
You've made it quite clear I need the resistors, I understand that. It's too bad that there's tons of misinformation out there.
So to anyone here in this thread, I have a question, what kind of 330ohm resistors do i need?
1/4 or 1/2 watt?
Thank You

I don't need the story to tell you the problem when you say that you didn't have the 330 ohm resistors. And I said that stuff because you knew about the resistors just choose not to use them, and when the exploit doesn't work you wonder why. And wattage shouldn't matter just dont go crazy with it, 1/4 will be fine, 1/2 would work as well, and even 1/8. I'm none of those people not even close, plus D-A is psp. There isn't really any miss info out there, just people don't read. Why do you think the zypher, falcon, and jasper haven't been released yet? Jasper is a little more difficult, but for the rest people need time to figure xenon out, as is it will be too difficult for the majority of the people so they're finding new points for the other boards.

is there a certain method of getting these resistors to reach each point? I think i have just barely enough length in these to reach there points. I'll have to get some electric tape so they don't overlap and short out.

Soz relapse, it was sarcastic, no offence intended. Ive been following your advice on the other thread very closely and saw the video of the snes emu you posted a while back, and from what ive seen you're definately NOT a "newbie". It just makes me chuckle that people think they are better because they have a higher post count.

What do you mean, u solder the resistor into the jtag point, then run a wire to the smc points. don't need tape or worry about over lapping.
And yeah I've got every version of board that I'll try this on, except for maybe an opus. I'll have to get a USB reader/writer before the jasper comes out, 256 and 512mb will take for ever over LPT.

ahh right, wire. duh. i've got 30 gauge laying around. i'll just clip the ends so there's nubs, and use solder flux for the spots that are not pre/solder, and run the wires from the other ends of the resistors to the other points.
EDIT - well i'm just starting to get the assumption that there's something wrong with my 360. Still get RROD after doing the soldering of the resistors. My NAND has the Xell_DHCP_RGB_1024x786 "NewXell.bin" flashed to it, and it's still a black screen, with 3 RROD. So I guess this is a no go for me with the xenon. I have a Jasper Arcade sitting around, so I'll have to wait for something else down the road. Thank you to everyone for their help.

that's the problem. in my original post, I explained how i lost my original NAND due to my PC crash. I tried downgrading the 360, and i believe to have had 1888 on the NAND from using the infectus. But when it came time do downgrade, the infectus programer did something where I was unable to downgrade with the robinsons time attack.
so I asked here if I was able to flash the NAND with just the xenon hack bin file, and I was told yes. But now I'm starting to believe there's something wrong with the machine that i'm unaware of

Um u should be able to just flash xell and be done with it. I'm guessing when you baked it u must of cooked something. I you dont have any NAND dump then xell is all that it will be good for, because your info from the NAND is lost.

quick question. do i have the 330ohm resistors going to the same place? this is how i have them going. (used paint to describe)
The soldering looks like crap, but in my defense I was using the worst tip ever.
This is so not the place to continue this discussion you should make a new post in the hacking thread.
