Title: Use Videolan With Xbmc?
Post by: raggage on January 03, 2005, 09:43:00 PM
Hey,

First off let me say I think XBMC is head and shoulders the best media player on any console (including PC) ever!!! Kudos

I have a Linux box on my Lan that has a large amount of movies in normally XviD or sometimes VCD format. I use VideoLan as a client to stream from the Linux box to computers on my Lan. Can I stream to my XBOX running XBMC?

If so how? What option do I select in XBMC?

Ash

Wouldn't using smb shares be alot easier?

Possibly, but security is important on this box, so I'd rather not have open Samba shares.

Then make the XBOX the only node that has access to the shares.  You are using NTFS, right?
