Title: Xbox Live Banning Question

hey guys i have a question. do you only get banned from xbox live if you're caught playing a bootleg game? or do you get banned the second you log in to xbox live? i'm asking because i don't play on xbox live, i just want to download updates and demos and junk. Thanks!

i would like to know this question as well, i take my xbox around alot and i dont always take the disc out so i never use my originals ive already scratched/ruined 2 of them and would like to know if banning occurs only with online play, or if you can be banned for booting a backup while connected to live?

The question still stands, can you be banned just by using Xbox live marketplace, Or does banning only occur when backup's of games are being played online ?.

Currently it appears that the only banning method is disc authentication while connected to Live. This means that at the moment it should be safe to connect to Live to use marketplace or to play original games online, as long as you don't have a backup in the drive. To be safe, don't ever have the ethernet cable plugged in while you have a backup in the drive, even if you aren't playing the game.

This may change in the future and MS may be able to tell you have played a backup even if you had the ethernet cable disconnected at the time - the code to do this may even already be in the current kernel, but has not yet been activated, so it might even start happening without a dash update. So, please don't assume there is no risk smile.gif

Did Some Ever did a connection test (Live connection) with out there Ethernet cable.
i Checkt my status codes and they gave me. thees codes

W: 0000 - 0000
X: 0000 - 0001
Y: 0000 - 0000
Z: 0000 - 0000

 but when i connect to ethernet and check the keys they are back to my banned keys

w 0000 - 0008
x 0000 - f001
y 00a8 - 6820
z 8015 - 190D

Just found this maybe someone else have seen it but might help someone don't know.

the difference in codes is because in your first scenario, the system is saying "hey, i don't have an ethernet cable, i have no idea if i'm banned because i can't talk to the microsoft server". in the second scenario, you can verify that you are infact banned. the difference in codes will not help you in any way.
