Microsoft's Game Developer Group general manager Chris Satchell says there are currently more than 7.1 million Xbox Live users and, more surprisingly, those users have conducted more than 25 million downloads on Xbox 360.

Additionally, they're finding the attach rate for Xbox Live Arcade titles is more than 6-7 per user - and that number has doubled in the last four months. By the end of the year, Microsoft expects there to be over a hundred titles on the service; right now there are 77.

i assume 'attach rate' is referring to downloads of trial ones, cos if not theres gotta be alot of people who have bought MORE than 10!

i haven't found a single one worth buying! (alien hominid is about the only one, but i already have that on disc).

They will do that easy, providing the dam publishers don't keep increasing the price of these games, if they keep doing that MS will wonder why they can't reach that target. laugh.gif

It would be interesting to know if the 7.1M are unique users with a paid for gold subscription or is it including people with more than 1 Live profile?. I have 1 main gold account and another silver for guests etc. I know lots of people with more than just 2 and then there's the people who sign up for the free 1month trial then never use it again after its finished. Still 7.1million users isn't too bad!.

The arcade attach rate sounds about right. I think I have about 6-7 games as far as I remember. I just wish they would give me a Live enabled Goldeneye!!  tongue.gif .

How on earth does the average account have less than 4 downloads? I download every trailer, every arcade demo, and free gamerpic.

Actually... how can you have 6-7 arcade titles and only 4 downloads?

1up.com messed up, It should be 45 million downloads.

UPDATE: We've been informed by the powers that be that we've majorly goofed -- the headline and story should both read 45 million downloads, not 25 million. Now, suddenly, that 6-7 attachment rate figure makes sense.

Still seems like a very low number to me though  blink.gif . Even at 45M total downloads wouldn't that suggest the only thing people ever downloaded from Live was those 6-7 arcade games and nothing else. Maybe its supposed to be 45 billion?, who knows.

XBL continues to be an amazing accomplishment that is obviously second to none with nothing even close to providing competition - and XBL continues to improve...nice work MS...
