I think that only works on the 360 that you start it on
-
Seriously? Your console has to be a platinum and as soon as you fire up your 360 for the first time and setup a live account it should prompt you about it.
-
If you got a core unit then it didnt include a free month trial of live. . . Does anyone know if they still put those free live cards in select games? and would they work with 360?
If someone has one of those lying around and its unexpired it might work.

You guys are incorrect, I have a core and received a free month of live when I made my xbox live account a silver. The reason they do this is to try and get you to want a gold account so they make more money. It wouldn't make any sense to just limit it to premium owners.
There plan worked and I now have a gold account.

you can start up to 3 different accounts on silver, and when you do it will ask you if you want a free month of gold. As far as those scratch off trials we all used to get, Ive only seen one.
When I bought Farcry it had a 24 hour trial (wtf!?) that specifically stated that the trial did NOT include gold member features like downloadable content. (marketplace)

Make a new account mark it as SILVER then you would get a message saying you qualify for a free gold and you get it free for a month.
