However, like everything else relating to the 360 and its features, it's all still up in the air. Until the system actually releases, we can only go by what we're told from MS employees.
omg that is soooo crafty i was just wondering about that when i read the official launch details - i thought the wording was very careful - "free access to gamertag information" - yes +?????? thats already free on bungie anyway?! " then i saw "and the gold package with multiplayer match making" carefully worded so it doesn't out-rite say you have to pay for multiplayer. They tricked us lads- from the beginning they said "free xbox-live with extra features if you want to pay for them" - not "you can find out where abouts in the world El!te547 lives and btw if you actually wanna send him an invite to play you have to subscribe!"
very good picking up Jaxter.
why would they make silver attractive at all when its just a marketing scheme to get more gold members?....er premium what the fuck. Not knocking the scheme at all it serves a good purpose as far as buying content for games and needed updates for a price. It'll be a good system because they're probably betting that your going to pay so much for stuff in silver it would just make sense to get premium. Then they have people paying $$$$ a year for live. Im just hoping they dont start cutting games to 6 levels and then sell you the rest. Or games having so many bugs that you have to have 4 updates before you can play a fun game. With so much pressure, it looks like its happening more often, but I guess you could say no code is bugless.
yeah it is pretty much just a marketing scehme.
but im not likely to play on live (thank god for xlink kai), i would only use silver for the updates and extra levels ect.
Im really wondering how many system link games there will be.

Developers have said that MS are pissed about xlink and xbconnect for one. They are stripping it from games just before release now.
I dont know, just wondering what the future of it will be.

What if the silver account lets you play original Xbox games that have Live enabled like Halo 2? Hehe that would be killer. Doesn't really matter though because I will probably just get the gold account

I wouldn't be surprised if MS see Kai as another way to let people try out online multi-player but not as direct competiton.

Just a comment on this question from way back in the beginning. You won't have to get the HDD with the 360 to get all of the free dl's. From my understanding, and I could be wrong, but I thought you could get your downloads from 360 kiosks in retail stores as well.
