 This is what many have tried and none succeeded...

 ================================================================================

 What is this?
 ================================================================================

 This patch will remove the 30ms check on the key exchange from xbox to xbox
 over system link. This was known as the "30ms ping limit". It seems that only
 the client needs the patch.
 1) Make sure you have Dashlaunch v1.0 installed.
 2) Place Kxam.patch in the root of usb or hdd.

 Hopefully this will encourage people to stay off of xbox live with hacked xboxs
 as there is no real reason for it.

 ================================================================================

 Usage
 ================================================================================

 - FreeBoot 0.032 with DashLaunch 1.0 (kernel 9199)
 - An internal harddrive and/or usb stick (check DashLaunch 1.0 readme)
 - The file from this release on the root of it (kxam.patch)
 - Power up Xlink Kai
 - And see you online!

 ================================================================================

 Known Bugs?
 ================================================================================

 None really, its possible some games have internal Pinglimits..
 They'll need to be removed by doing MemoryPatches (gametrainer per example).

 ================================================================================

 ChangeLog
 ================================================================================

 V0.01
 -first release

 ================================================================================

 Disclaimer
 ================================================================================

 We, the creators, have nothing to do with freeboot, or the making of
 DashLaunch, but we don't want to make a support channel so use theirs.

Not everyone wants to buy a separate xbox just to play online and there are only a few games supporting system link. Its not really an option.

true there may be only a few games that support systemlink.... but the ones that do are the only ones that are worth playing on live anyway..... can anyone say Modern Warefare 2? not to mention EVERY CoD game.... Red Dead Redemption? HALO 3 ODST?  Forza 2? Gears 2? the list literarlly goes on....

This is great. I'm going to start playing borderlands again with my other JTAG friends.

I have not used Dashlaunch, I know its required but can I still boot to NXE and utilize this?

Is this just for connecting 2 jtags together over system link or can you indeed Sys link a live xbox to my Jtag over Xlink?

That's what I'd like to know.  I'm assuming the server could be a non jtag user, and the client needs this patch, so you could theoretically have non jtag systems in the mix, but they could only host the game.

I'm hoping that only the client truly needs it and that non-jtag systems can host while jtag'd systems join.  If so, that'd make this MUCH more useful for me.

THIS IS THE MOST AWESOME NEWS THIS YEAR. (sorry for the CAPS).

Now we need to be able to run Xlink Kai in the background, making it easy to get system link games running without pc application or other annoying (but greatly appreciated) stuff.

Effin sweet.. i never had a 1st gen xbox.. so i had no clue about this kai stuff until now! the ping limit patch seems to be working just fine.. i have been play MW2 for a little bit. now it would just be nice if i could get my stats from my live gamertag onto the haxbox so i didnt start back at pvt again! =P off to figure that out.. this is the best thing to happen since the jtag hack and sliced bread!

While this is true and there are a lot of people that will screw around, I think the majority of those with jtagged consoles simply want an alternative to xbox live to just play normal games.

But this does remind me of the Halo 1 PC days where there were servers with mods on and servers without. It made the online aspect more interesting

This is great news... I could hardly believe it when i saw it on the front page

Wait, how are people connecting to xbox live with a jtagged xbox? I thought if you went online with a jtagged xbox it would be banned in minutes? is that not the case or have people found a way to connect for short period of times? or do they play online, get banned then reflash their nand with a new key taken from dead RROD xbox?

It's really quite easy.

Download Bestpig's Freeboot Toolbox  v2.4
Get the original copy of your nand (eg fullnand.bin)
Run Freeboot Toolbox, enter your CPU key (you can get this from Xell or Xellous, boot your Xbox by the eject button)
Set the filename destination to : updflash.bin
Click Generate FreeBOOT
Select the fullnand.bin when required to, wait for Freeboot Toolbox finishes with no errors
Place updfalsh.bin on the root of a usb keydrive
Place into front USB port of Xbox power on with the eject button
Xellous or Xell should see the update write to the nand (sometimes the Xbox will refuse to see a certain USB key and then find it later so keep trying if it doesnt work first time)
Wait for that to finish, turn off Xbox for 30 seconds and then boot.
You now have FreeBOOT .032 with 9199 dash. To get the best you can download dashlaunch 1.0 from xbins to complete the setup.

If you want to patch the SMC for the JTAG (which I would recommed), choose to create a custom FreeBOOT image and then patch the smcdata with Blackaddr's SMC IO patcher when the explorer window opens.

While it first reads as nice news, after thinking a while about it I realized I dont care about it. Why? Very simple- I sometimes used to play halo/halo 2 via xbc/kaid on xbox 1.  THose f*cking hackers started to show up more and more so it became pretty much funless very soon..

So I rather buy myself a 2. xbox 360 and pay those f+ckin 4-5 $ per month (ebay 12 month gold card) for cheater free online gaming xperience.

Unless ofcourse one does plan to cheat in a fkn online game due to given fact that the balls are too small. Then its a good news for those ppl.

Just tried to update via this method, but I got stuck with an unusual problem.  I can't boot into Xell, I can boot to the dashboard just fine, but not Xell.  What's going on?  I tried booting by the eject button and controller in the rear usb port.  The eject button does nothing and the controller in the rear usb port brings up a black screen...I didn't do this hack myself, and don't have the knowledge or tools to do this hack myself with a computer, that's why im trying to follow this method...really hoping the person who did it didn't mess up.  They're from these forums :/

should have done it before upgrading to freeboot because it has to be dont before being flashed to the xbox.. but its quit easy.. ive never used one of the tools i just always use ibuild.. so if your using ibuild just do this..

1. replace the patches_******.bin (ie patches_falcon.bin) files in the bin directory of freeboot with the ones from the dashlaunch archive..

2. then rebuild and flash freeboot to nand..

3. then modify the launch.ini to you liking.. (you dont have to put anything in it about the patch)

4. i use FSD so i just FTP'd in and put the launch.xex and launch.ini into flash that way.. but you can use the flash_installer supplied with dashlaunch (never tried it).. i think you just need to copy your launch.ini into that folder.. that folder on your xbox then run the default.xex

5. place the kxam.patch file in the root of HDD1

6. Reboot! ALL DONE!

7. Enjoy online gaming on your 360 without xbox live!

So does this mean we can now have a real dedicated XBOX 360 section with XLink and get things up and going like with multiplayer from the XBOX1 days?

I'm so excited to play with all of you fellow JTAG'ers! We're an elite bunch of people, you know. And now we can game together.

Yeah yeah I know! So excited. <3

This removes a 30ms ping requirement,
on xbox kai your ping rates may vary, so you could not play anyone with a higher ping rate than 30ms.

So if you wanted to play with a bunch of people that ping at 31ms you can't.

This patch removes that requirement on jtag boxes (that can not play on xbox live without getting banned) so people can now go on xbox kai and play people and host games, even if the ping is higher than 30, and basically still enjoy network gaming with their jtagged boxes.

Here: http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/

In short, Kai offers an alternative to Xbox Live. It does this by using the system link feature in Xbox and Xbox 360 games. Microsoft intended system link games to allow people to bring together their xbox systems (and televisions) into a single room and play against each other...without the need for Xbox Live.

Kai tricks these systems into thinking they are all in the same room...even if they are physically very far away. You do this by installing a small server software package on your pc, and connecting your xbox system to this server.

For the original Xbox, this offered an excellent alternative to Xbox Live. Microsoft realized this when making the Xbox 360 and put in a ping time check to see if the systems were indeed in the same room.

This effectively killed Kai for Xbox 360 users. This patch removes the ping check....hello, Kai!

Is there anyone who had sucess patching the console? Please share this good news here!

I have been playing on Xlink for a few hours and have experience very little lag while playing with people who have 180ms and up pings. Its pretty much likes XBL except free and a lot easier to manage.

I'm so excited to play with all of you fellow JTAG'ers! We're an elite bunch of people, you know. And now we can game together.

We are nothing compared to the people who gave use the JTAG hack, as well as this patch, though. wink.gif

I havent had any success with this on xlink yet...

I know my xbox is set up right, cause I got freedash to go straight to FSD. Then I load up MW2 and try to find some hosted games but none show up. the patch file is on the root of the hdd

Any ideas?

Do have have the latest title update for MW2?

Someone should make an xboxlive emulator... When you select Connect to Live, it emulates XBL without connecting to microsofts servers.

well that just occurred to me and i downloaded TU5 and put it on. The version updated but still no games. I dont think the version matters but I could be wrong

edit: nvm it was the title update that was preventing it. latest is TU6

My connection is pretty simple, I dont have any firewalls on. I have 1 cable running from my router to my computer, and then from my computer to my xbox since my computer has 2 ethernets. I use this set up for xbox live and streaming so i know it works..

Any ideas?

I'm pretty sure you will need an I.P of a host to connect to... You won't be able to pick others -up randomly ... (At least I don't think so - I haven't installed it yet myself)

this is pretty sweet news. looks like its finally time to add dashlaunch 1.0 to my freeboot image.

Too bad ill have to wait a few days though, my pc that has all the jtaq tools/software/nand backups is down for upgrades.

I was wondering if this would ever happen. HUGE props to Team-FBDev.

The patch works exactly as described. If you are running 9199+DashLaunch1.0, just put kxam.patch in your hdd root.

Also, if gaming via Xlink Kai, make sure to forward port 30000 to your PC running Kai (not your 360)

Looking forward to gaming with you guys in the near future!

I should be able to get this thing working, I did with the old xbox in the day!
Just wondering how can we make sure that our jtag boxes won't be detected by MS.
And yes I realise that we are using system link and not xbox live.
I will be connecting thru a router due to not having dual ethernet on my pc like my old one.

if you have disabled Live on your console (through parental controls) how could ms detect your 360? the console wont connect to any MS server if you play system Link games...

If you are still concerned then just enter a wrong gateway in the ip settings, then the console cant connect to the internet, but a connection betwenn your PC will work just fine

I would like to see a tutorial that combines this and blackaddr's smc fix and lets you update from any jtagable stock dashboard version or xbr3.

The bestpig application is a really nice piece of work. Would be great to see that guy integrate this.

Alright. I tried to use bestpigs 2.4. It seems as if it somehow installs dashlaunch 1.0 automatically or something - who knows? There is no readme...

I left the dot in "nand", though I could have changed it for "usb" or "hdd" but I have no idea on why I should do this.

It's done and flashed - now what?

Should everything be fine if I put 30ms file on the root of my hdd?
Why does my xbox1 games don't work no more?

Help appreciated.

UnfortunAtely Forza 3 has no system-link, so we are out of luck.

I never played with KAI, so can I setup a system where I host a particular game, and all my mates can play without leaving their homes? Is that basically how it works?
If I am hosting, can I play as well? What sort of internet speed is required to host successfully?

I'd be happy to host some 24/7 games for the Aussies.

Yep, you host a game in an room on kai, your friends join your game in that room. Its just like systemlink on a local network, except your all at your own houses. (Or multiple people in a few houses, etc)

The upload speed of your connection determines the number of players that can play in your game, 512kbps upload speed should be fine.

Yeah i noticed xbox 1 games don't work anymore.Its due to the freeboot patches.Once you have built the new freeboot image with the new patches put on xedash and create the right paths.Put the kxam.patch on the root of the xbox hardrive or usb.I put it on both just to be sure.Now the xbox 1 compatibility when using these new patches is totally gone.Whenever i launch my xenon console its just restarts the console.Ideally to have both you would need a dual nand setup (you lucky cygnos users :)Yes for now you will have to re-flash nand everytime you want play an xbox 1 game.Iv been up all night trying different patches and mixing and matching but nothing seems to work.For now its either a cygnos or keep re-flashing and switching nand dumps with Flash360 which apparently is NOT recommended until a fix will possibly come out.

Not true: JTAG'ers have honor too!! (At least most of us) If a non-modded lobby is specified then that's what you get, Otherwise everyone has the same mods which makes for a way more fun game (I've been at it all night it's awesome!!)

After all it's all about having fun not competing!!

 To clarify: For those who don't know:

You put the patch in the root directory of your HDD , Let dashlaunch detect,

Download Xlink-Kai Sign-up/on/in,

Navigate to the console/game/area you wish to play (I've been playing with ppl on th other side of the globe - sometimes the ping is too long and you get time-out)
Then search for host or start hosting.
Helps to make use of the chat
If you get into a MW2 lobby that says 'you need verification' and it doesn't happen promptly then get the hell-out before you stats etc.. get stuffed-up (not that it matters too much)

Best to make a new GT to match your Kai/Xlink ID

Enjoy,

PS:Pity about Forza 3 not having system link (WHAT the HELL were they thinking??!??!?!!?) - I Found-out the hard-way :-)

Anyone found cheating on XLink Kai will be permanently banned from the service.

You can report cheaters to a moderator/admin on the service itself, or in the forum here: https://www.teamxlin...wforum.php?f=33

 Yeah I think they're going to have to ease-up on that policy now that this patch is out,

Modded games are more fun , If you want to play on an even footing: go play xbla (that's why it cost sooo much) And ur garunteed no cheats (almost -except those who waste their KV's - and those numbers are dwindling) It's not like systemlink games are having their stats recorded. Also sometimes mods may be used to compensate for lag , skill etc.. (see my previous post)

I would suggest if you want a normal game on Xlink that you specify 'No mods' and host it urself (ppl are doing this already) It would be fair nor enforcable (as kai wouldn't have the tools to montior/prove/justify banning - they would just join under new accnt 5mins later anyway) It says words to the effect of 'If you get banned you'll know what it's for' that says it all.
 I'm guessing : If you consistently ruin other's games they will prolly MAC ban you or something

Everythings still new and finding it's niche so we will have to wait/see how ppl make use of this amazing new ability. Big thanx to those who dev's it.

You will need freeboot to run the dashlaunch patch, There may be a workaround (but why bother - it's easy to update to 9199 normally)

how did you upgrade to freeboot the first time? if using ibuild everything you need should already be there... just replace those patches files and rebuild just like you did the first time.. but yes you can just obtain it from previous builds or the one current on your nand.

I guess incorrectly :/  The first time I upgraded to Freeboot I used Freeboot Toolbox, entered my CPU Key, selected Xenon as the mobo, and updflash.bin as the file type.  Then clicked generate Freeboot, selected my 7371.bin and got my freeboot dash.  Did I do something wrong?  Now I get an error saying something about my current nand being zeropaired in Flash360 :/

The policy for modding has always been this; if you are going to host a modded game, label your arena as having mods, simple as that.

Took me nearly all evening to get Xlink working with my laptop and router but now it's sorted I've had some fun messing about in modded lobbies  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

As long as the host has marked whether the game is modded or not I don't see the problem, I'm sure as Xlink grows in popularity there will be an equal demand for legit hosts aswell (and maybe even games other than MW2  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif) ).

hi guys,
          ive been suffering with this all day,  ive used best pig to create freeboot from original nand dump, i selected the custom mode and usde the patch for my falcon from the dashlaunch installer folder, bestpig says freeboot image was created successfully. Ive flashed to nand using flash360. I installed the patch to the root of the xbox hdd and then ran dashlaunch installer default.xex, flashed launch.xex and launch.ini to the nand. Now when i boot the xbox it goes straight to the nxe dash, ive tried pressing B button or X button on startup but it always goes to the nxe dash. ive tried mw2 on xlink with the latest updates but to no avail. Ive modified my launch.ini to try and get it to boot into fsd but its not working. any ideas?

my launch.ini is
[QuickLaunchButtons]
Default = LHdd1:\Freestyle\FreestyleDash.xex
BUT_X = LHdd1:\Content\0000000000000000\C0DE9999\00080000\C0DE99990F586558

the FreestyleDash.xex is located in the Freestyle folder on the root of my xbox hdd.

I think if you're using Bestpig 2.4 you don't need to do a custom build, it already includes Dashlaunch. I had to choose the NAND option as HDD or USB wouldn't boot but otherwise everything else you said should work.

Ignore the warning as it doesn't apply to 9199 freeboot image (KV is in differnt place)

And as the post above says and as I said earlier in this same thread twice: USE THE NAND OPTION!!!
 The rest of the info is in this thread if u need it...

this is excelent. was up all night testing it and helping a few users get set up over xlink.
the word needs to be spread far and wide. the more who know the more users there will be.
i have told a few people of the developement. i think 1 thing that maybe getting lost in this is you dont need a jtag to host. only to connect. so if we get a fe wof the 1 million banned users to set up games and then have the limited number of jtags connect to them we could get a pretty good community going.

hopefully developement of some homebrew tools that allow hosting and joining games without the need for the pc will come soon.

anyway great progress on this and thanks for letting me play red dead redemtion last night with a few friends :-)

Messed around with this today. Don't have a jtagged xbox, I have one that's jtaggable but it's been rrod for like 2 years but I want to get it fixed and jtagged soon. all of the possibilities I'm hearing with jtagged xbox's are amazing.

but anyway, I was able to host a system link game, and people started joining immediately, pretty sweet I must say, my gold just ran out and they got me to renew for one month for one dollar, so I did it, when that's over, I'm just gonna host games on xlink kai.

That's all very nice, but I bet that M$ will disallow System Link in new games outright, since their typical target consumer is more interested in the joys of XBL. Therefore that would be as missed as Split Screen.

I hope I'm wrong. Now at least I can have some hope in hosting games through Kai with my genuine console (because my reckless one keeps blinking some strange red lights recently).

Halo 3

And basically anything else.

MW2 profile reset? : Yes ironically you will need to use another lobby try rizzle's patch

ODST etc.. Sounds good , I'm sick of MW2... Would be a good excuse to get into some under-utilised games that have been skipped over (Some good titles in there)

Dashlaunch?? Noob questions??? READ THE WHOLE THREAD!!! (Like any thread it's a sure-fire way to ensure you don't come-off as too much of a noob ;-)

System link gone?? I wouldn't put it past them, but I think the number of JTAG consoles are not a threat that's worth addresssing for them anymore (It doesn't meet their formula application for patches etc.. ) So I don't see them spending the $$ on the focus-group to invent a good excuse for removing or 'no longer supporting' system link.... They'll prolly just put it on less and less games (now that I think about it they have already)

A Kai/Xlink plugin for dashlaunch would be cool but .. you prolly stil need the GUI/chat somewhere to guide ur own matchmaking.

Keep spreading the word!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, yes it would be awesome! I wonder what it would take to generate a UI to do that... probably a lot.

Imagine being able to switch arenas without even having to leave the game. Just hit the guide button and shazam, select your kai arena. Hell, even being able to reboot old school like we used to with XBMC.

L4d2 is alot of fun over Kai because of the voice capabilities over system link. Are there any other games with voice chat over syslink that you guys know of?

They would be stupid to remove system link, that just means more man power towards a user created xbox live type infrastructure.

MS wont fix the ping stuff for the jtag bc they dont want modding on there servers, but keep it for retail just to keep retail to XBL.

just played a bit modded MW2 and its really lame, also i messed up my Multiplayer Profile, is there a way to reset this?
Normal MW2 is great tho smile.gif never played online with my 360 until yesterday when i first tried the patch. this is really awesome. cant wait to play a bit RDR online.

I really hope the continue to release System Link games.

Just delete your MW2 profile save (not campaign) info from your memory unit. That'll delete all information. If you want to just lower your rank and not change your stats/classes, easiest thing would be a modded lobby.

The only way this might be able to run without a PC, is for someone to code an extension like what xbmc used a few years ago. It worked great then and the source code might still be about somewhere. The engine was still needed on the PC but everything else was run from the xbox. You never know someonemight code it, or fsd might be able to add it to their dash

There has to be some bridge that allows us to use this system link option to break non jtaggable xboxes over the network. If you are able to run anything you want injected into a mw2 lobby then what's to stop people from running things over the network that could xploit other xboxes connected to the lobby.

MW2 exploits are because of lazy coding by IW, not an Xbox vulnerability. I'm not quite sure what you're proposing here, but if I'm understanding you, there's a snowball's chance in hell of it happening.

That is a really good idea. I wonder if any of the master hackers out there have looked into that angle.

I can't seem to get this working.  I have dashlaunch 1.0 installed on freeboot 0.32.  I know that works, it boots to fsd, if I hold RB it goes to dashboard.  I have kxam.patch in the root of my internal HDD.  I have MW2 TU #6 installed.  I have port 30000 forwarded to my PC in my router settings.  I still can't join any game.  When I try to, it says awaiting connection and then times out every time.  Any ideas?

You have a software firewall or anything? If so I would open port 30000 there also and open port 3074 UDF and see what you get.

I recommend doing a port trigger on port 30000 UDP. It forwards that port to every IP addy on your network.  Also, see if you can host a game and have someone join you.  If they can't join you and they are a confirmed working patch user, it's something with your connection and not the patch.

If you can't get it to work after forwarding/triggering, try restarting your router and modem.  I made a quick video, maybe it'll help someone out.

I'm normally set to Not Reachable when I am not in the game arena once I'm there it switches to yes. Poolshark I think I know why you can't join some games, it may not be a firewall issue on your end but on the hosts.

I still can't connect to anyone. I'm able to see them on system link, but when I click it, it just keeps going awaiting connection 1, 2, 3, and 4. Then it says unable to connect. Do I need to have a clean MW2 patch on?

I tried to do this last night, I got the dashlaunch 1.0 working fine, put the sys link patch on root of HDD and USB.

The system rebooted as it booted, I assume that was the patch installing?

Tried Kai for an hour, couldn't see any games at all. I have the TU6 installed as I can sys link with my retail live box no problem. Kai diagnostics say I am reachable.

Do you need to keep the patch in the root all the time or is it just a one shot patch?

If you can see folks on system link but it won't let you join it means the patch isn't working.  To get my patch working I did the following.

I used the pig program, Freeboot Tool Maker 2.4 to compile my nand.  Basically, do this.

Get your nand using xellous, open the pig tool, select your xbox type & deselect auto detect, enter your cpu key, use the NAND feature under dashlaunch updates, click create custom freeboot, navigate to the freeboot folder & BEFORE you click OKAY, make sure your patch from the dashlaunch zip is in the bin folder of freeboot. THEN click okay.

I have FreeBOOT v.032, but I don't know if it has the correct patch that has dash launch installed on it. If I run the flash_installer, will it flash dash launch to my NAND or do I have to build a completely new image? Because I have no idea if I have dash launch already installed and I would just prefer to run the flash_installer instead of building a whole new image because I don't have my original NAND.

If you're not sure about having dashlaunch installed you may need to rebuild. Flash_installer will just put launch.xex on and if you edit your launch.ini to your own liking you can test if you have dashlaunch installed.
If you can't custom boot your choice of dash eg. xexmenu/freestyle then you don't. If that's the case then use flash360 to read your existing nand and then use that to rebuild.

Thanks. I just didn't want to test it because I thought something might go wrong and I wouldn't be able to boot at  all or something along those lines. But I'll test it now to see if I have the right patch for my NAND.

Edit: Damn, it doesn't look like I have the right patch installed. Looks like I'll have to build another FreBOOT image.

This is awesome when it works right. Had a couple of games of FFA and team deathmatch with about 8 people in last night and it ran really smooth.

I still find that connecting seems to be hit and miss though, even with the ping patch installed and definitely working. I think it is because I'm running Kai through the wireless connection on my laptop (e.g Router -> Wireless -> Laptop -> Ethernet -> Xbox) but unfortunately can't try an all wired set up due to the positioning of my router.

To anyone else that is running the patch and a wireless connection but is still having hit and miss problems connecting to games, I've found that closing Kai, repairing my internet connection (right click wireless symbol on task bar and click repair in XP) and then restarting Kai seems to help (you don't need to restart xbox), I've found that sometimes I can see more games and join successfully after doing this.

Good to see more people wanting to play legit games too, I had to delete my game save aswell after getting 10th without even realising i was in a modded lobby (being a n00b I didn't even know what 10th was either) so you have to watch out if you want to keep a legit profile.

UPDATE:Iv deleted my multiplayer game save so im back to rank 1 and my gamertag is now legit.So hopefully it should be sorted and i wont be joining any hacked lobbies from now on.Ill just be hosting.Try connecting to my lobby again and tell me in my servers chat room if everything is ok from now on.Ill ONLY be hosting legitimate lobbies.The amount of stupid modded lobbies iv seen are just noob little kids that think its ace to go around wrecking a good game for everyone else.In my room we can take turns hosting because i will admit i dont have the best connection.Join in guys and help me keep it going for the people who really wanna play for fun and not stupidity smile.gif

I agree, more legit/no mod arena's would be a big plus.

Also, where are you Aussies? I can get online overseas but the lag makes it a bit hit & miss. Mostly miss.

Edit: Is there any thing that would stop me being able to host a game if I have no problems joining other arena's?

Best thing i would recommend is do a speed test and find out your connections upload speed.The higher the upload speed the better the ping will be with other players and also the more people you will be able to host on your connection.1mb i would say could hold a good 12 people in a steady game.512kb upload would hold maybe 6-8 players.All depends.

 If anyone could help me I would very much appreciate it.. I recently upgraded to Windows 7 and cannot get Xlink Kai to run....I have seen a possible fix for it on another forum however it didn't help me..I get the error pddsk library could not be accessed  or something along those lines may not be the exact wording but It won't even start the engine.

 If the Xlink guys are around a quick answer would be great if not I'll hop on the xlink forum and see if i can track down an answer...Thanks in advance guys.

 I still have my WinXp install on a different haddrive and I am going to be converting it to a VM but right now I am running and adjusting to Win 7 because i am thoroughly impressed with it, not like Vista at all much faster and more stable.

Xtag is jcplinux2010 add me I play MW2 and I was enjoying this new patch, I had a feeling Xlink would be an issue on Win 7.

if i remove it, it boots fine sad.gif
any ideas?

its a homebrew 500gb hard drive and xplorer 360 seems to crash when i try to load it (i guess its not compatible with it)

I had the same problem(I think). If you mean that it just doesn't boot to the dash after the Xbox 360 logo, then I know why. I was having the same problem and then I looked at the debug log and it turned out that for some reason my JTAG can't boot into XeXmenu and when I was holding X it wouldn't boot into Freestyle dash. So I just made Freestyle dash the default dash to boot to and now it boots perfectly. Also, I've been messing with the launch.ini and it is really buggy. Sometimes I will try to re-order the button list and it will just boot to NXE and not follow what I put in the ini at all.

I tried a bunch of different things to get dashlaunch to load FSD on startup with no success. My freeboot image was patched but it didnt seem to do the things i specificied in my launch.ini

so i tried flashing it to the nand and after that everything worked.

yes its harder to change, but just set it to launch FSD by default and its not too hard to go back to the dashboard

Make sure you port forward port 30000 in your router and have the latest title update for MW2 (TU6), if you also have a software firewall I would open port 30000 in there too, also open port 3074 UDP then try again

With the TU6 update is there anything else I should have other than the file that goes in the cache? Thats all I've added and haven't noticed any problems, what about the default_mp.xex, patch_mp.ff items that you find around, is there any need for updated ones of those, I don't want any mods.

You need the TU6 file for your cache, a TU6 default_mp.xex and a TU6 patch_mp.ff and then you will be able to connect to everyone. I think that TU5 patch_mp.ff's might also work with TU6 default_mp.xex's too, but I would just get a TU6 one just to be safe.

thats the exact same config that is in the example launch.ini, the readme also shows you how to make the NXE launch by default. So you just 'figured out' how to copy and paste really?

ok, I flashed freeboot 0.032 and dashlaunch successfully to my falcon. I used flash_installer to flash launch.ini and lauch.xex to nand. dashlauch is confirmed working as I got freestyle to boot before nxe by pressing X. kxam.patch is in hdd root and so is another launch.ini. In launch.ini under patches, I have patch1 = hdd:\kxam.patch.

Despite all this, I have the same problem as the other folks here. I can see a game but not connect to it, it just times out. this happens in every single game I try.

 what I realised was that in cod4 mw2, I dont have the tu6 and those people who do in kai cant see me and I cant see them. But, if we have the same old version, the connection just times out. though, from what I understand, if it times out, the patch is not working? right?

So what's missing...??

My example ini didn't have that, and I have the newest dash launch from xbins.
My example ini had xexmenu and freestyle dash. :S

I've used kai for about 6 years (before 360). You don't need a jtag to use it, you don't even need a 360 (it can even be a PSP, xbox1, etc...). So, what you should try to do is just get it working with 2 normal xbox's (with or without dvdrom mods matters not). Then, install the patch and see if it was really the patch. 8 times out of 10 it is a firewall. The other 2 times it is because you didn't read the manual for kai (you forward port 30000 to your PC's ip, _NOT_ to your xbox's ip). Also, there is a configure tool for kai in the install directory, it doesn't actually have to be port 30000. It works for the old kai client and the new we based one. Also, some virus programs can actually get in the way too, just in case you have a overbearing virus program, might want to check that.

Again, get it working without the patch, then try the patch.

Off Topic: I have a post in the dash launch thread about my xbox continuously rebooting right as it tries to load the dash, any help is welcomed. I would like to try kai with people farther away. And being you have to have dashlaunch installed correctly, I cannot do that. Unless, there is a way to apply the patch without dashlaunch?

I get the feeling that not many have this working. For all the hipe there doesn't seem to be a lot of users on Kai and this has nothing to do with the console when just in the Kai UI. If you can't see anyone in there then there's no chance of having a match.

I'm keen for some matches, my kai tag is Haydos but we have some different 360 gamertags also

As far as hosting or joining, Ive had no real problem unless the ping is real bad (+350ms, I'm in Oz BTW) and apart from the setting up I only have mw2 disc installed via nxe, TU6 update in cache and all the maps work including stimulus and resurgence. I installed these manually. Weird I thought you had to have default etc updated for these to work.

hmm I could have sworn that was in the example ini. My mistake, sorry about that. But it is either in the readme or the launch.ini that you can find all the combinations and the buttons you can use. I can't really check right now as my computer recently got a nice little Trojan and I had to reformat it and I lost most of my stuff.

Haygar- You shouldn't have to manually patch default.xex I've got TU6 in my cache and MW2 installed via Xexmenu and I can join just fine.

its so good to know that cod4 mw2 can be updated alone with the tu6 file in the cache folder. I knew that all the tuts said to also overwrite the default_mp.xex.(mine is in GOD format), since this rules out most of the problem, for me, i guess its down to forwarding port 30000 to pc (i had it to xbox) . but really, did anyone here actually get the patch working? I have not read of successful results yet.

Yes throughout this entire topic people have been posting that it works(including myself) I'm sure if it didn't work or was a hoax we would know by now.

It works fine for me. As long as you have freeboot with dashlaunch 1.0 (launch.xex in flash, and i put the ini on hdd), the ping patch on hdd, the same title update, and your port 30000 forwarded (i connect my 360 to my laptop and give it an ip, subnet, default gateway and dns while forwarding the port to my laptop's ip, not using internet connection sharing either), in the 360's settings manually give it an ip, subnet, and gateway, it will work.

well ive got my laptop to 360 and bridged connections. kai says reachable. i am yet to try to forward the port to the laptop and not 360.

about the .ini file: what are your settings, I left default blank and had to add on [patches], is that necessary?

1. You don't even need to bridge the connections. Just do what i said above and it will work
2. My default is set to launch freestyle, and x launches xexmenu, and no you don't need to add anything to patches

i've never put a [Patch] area in a launch.ini file

Just this:
[QuickLaunchButtons]
Default = LHdd:\Game\FreestyleDash.xex
BUT_X = LHdd:\Content\0000000000000000\C0DE9999\00080000\C0DE99990F586558

the min it booted FSD i was able to connect to games.

Just like ninja said use the Xellous dump.

There's a mini tut i did on page 10 that worked for me.

anyone have any experience with this, dash launch seems to only boot with my ini, to fsd, when launch.xex is on my usb disk.  I have it in the nand installed with flash_installer as well, but that doesnt seem to work.  I have the .ini everywhere.

Well, scratch that, all of my games have been giving me problems with just having the TU. Grr, I have to go and patch each one as I go now, royal PITA.
The two games I've had problems connecting with are Borderlands and Blur, both times the hosts had pings >200 so I guess that must've been it.
@Holyjewsus
The priority for Dash Launch is USB>HDD>NAND.

in my experience, having launch.xex on the root of my harddrive caused the box to freeze on bootup.
just need launch.ini on USB/HDD

launch.xex only on the nand with flash_installer.

i know this probably didn't help much but just my experience.

check to make sure your .ini's are all the same/accurate.

I don't even know whether launch.xex/launch.ini is needed for the Kxam.patch to work, as long as dashlaunch itself has been built into your freeboot image and you have the patch at HDD1/Kxam.patch.
All port forward info is available here http://portforward.com/
Choose your equipment,skip the ad, and after that right at the bottom is the Kai Link setup info

FINALLY, I got it to work!!! The prob was the port forwarding to pc and not xbox.
since i got 2 routers (adsl modem and linksys router), I just opened port 30000 onto the linksys router.
I bridged connection so the router indirectly assigns ip to my 360 automatically (and the port is open for all devices)
(note: tu6 is necessary in cod4mw2)

I have not tried any other game because no one is online.

anyway, thanks for the help, see you all on kai... cool.gif

for me dash launch is not working. I can see the launch.xex on the flash and launch.ini on my root of my both internal and external drive. also its configure properly. holding X not booted to FSD. so clearly Dashlaunch not working. Can anyone shade some light??

I have FreeBOOT v.032, but I don't know if it has the correct patch that has dash launch installed on it. If I run the flash_installer, will it flash dash launch to my NAND or do I have to build a completely new image? Because I have no idea if I have dash launch already installed and I would just prefer to run the flash_installer instead of building a whole new image because I don't have my original NAND.

You shouldn't have to build a new image (especially if you had the nand option checked) And you will have to run the installer at least once or it(dashlaunch) won't be there.

Don't get too excited. I tried to take my Jtag online (after I updated to freeboot) and the second it tried to connect during setup, I got a message saying it was banned for ToS violations. (I wanted to connect it so I could recover my XBL account and get some game updates, but oh well.) Your's could be banned just as fast.

It's always worth saving ur KV (they're in very limited supply and in the future you may be able to do some very cool things that have nothing to do with MW2 or lobbys) Either way it's important to have Xbox Live blocked in ur settings as once it's banned (only takes an hour or 3) it will modify ur nand (not as big concern nowadays) and if it keeps trying to log on post fixing ur nand u r console will go on untrusted list and that will cause u issues with new games that have you on their list..(there's a workaround but it's a massive pain in the proverbial)

Make sure when you do ur build you have nand checked, It will boot from nand, but without a drive of some description (with the actual app - fsd) and an accompaning .ini/and FSD to boot from it will default to NXE or worse.
 It's always better to have a seperate .ini etc.. for each drive as dashlaunch doesn't like to traverse drives.

I've also noticed that dashlaunch DOESN't Mount UsbMU's properly like it claims to they just default to USB0 etc.. and having one plugged-in (even after boot) can stuff up ur .ini after the UsbMu gets mounted as a normal USB and enumerates the one ur trying to boot off. Doh'

Hope this helps/Dan

I have never had any success without launch.xex flashed to the NAND, so I presume--without going back and looking at the documentation--that it is a requirement.

Sorry for bringing up an old topic, but I have an RGH console and just installed xlink kai.. played a bit and everything was fine.. could it be that this patch isn't needed anymore? It could be that the guy who hacked my console already applied the patch, but I doubt it.

-edit-
If anyone else is ever wondering about the same thing - DashLaunch's 'pingpatch = true' does the job for you (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I read through dashlaunch's fix history before but I didn't notice that anywhere so I posted here..
