Title: Is It Safe To Played On Xbc With Modified Firmware?
Post by: rlee on June 10, 2007, 04:19:00 PM
I haven't connected my ethernet cord to my 360 because it automatically signs on to xbox live and I'm afraid I will get banned. Is there anyway to get around this, I want to play halo 2 over XBC. Another question, I dont have an xbox live gold membership, only the silver. Is it safe to use the xbox live silver membership to d/l demos and what not? Or do they only ban people who try to play games over xbox live? Thanks

well banning happens when u play online games that are backups so as long as u just download demos and all that u should be good but as far as halo 2 out of luck eather buy another xbox to use as a regular one or a xbox one and mod it smile.gif

that is not true.many people such as myself dont play backups online but were still banned.if you have ever played a backup without true stealth then you can be banned.silver or gold it doesnt matter.

I believe you can sign into your profile w/ the ethernet cord unplugged, once signed in, plug it back in, and it shouldn't connect to live automatically.

You should be able to set your DNS server on the 360 manually to 127.0.0.1 (localhost) so it can't resolve the IPs to connect to live.  It would still be able to connect to XBC since it connects through your PC.

The best way to do it is to manualy change the Default Gateway of the xbox 360.
this will stop any internet activity from the xbox but it will allow you to use streaming media and other tools
it is quite easy to do.
Goto your network setup.
Assign a manual IP Address and set you Default Gateway to your PC`s IP Address.
Press test setting and test Xbox Live.
it will sign you out, once the tests have started quickly cancel them.
Then go back then back again.
Now look at your Network setting they have saved ok.
Now you will not be at risk of ever going onto Live at all.

If you want to play online/systemlink try this.

How about manually disabling the ports required for the services. Reroute the following port to a different IP than the console, that way communication isnt  possible. Wonder whether the ports are require for gaming.

The following ports must be available for Xbox Live to operate correctly: • UDP 88
• UDP 3074
• TCP 3074
