Title: Rewind Is Wicked Fast?
Post by: TeonHarasymiv on September 23, 2004, 09:21:00 AM
Ok, it seems that with a lot of my videos, rewind seems to go at max (32x) speed even when it thinks it is 2x. As in in is impossible to just rewind a tiny bit. Also sometimes (very rarely) rewind actually fast forwards! (this seems to only be on some videos).

The thing is though that I have never seen anything about this..... anywhere!

Is it a common problem (if so, why hasn't it been fixed, as it not a hard bug to recreate!) or is it just me?  <

I dont know about fast-forwarding, but certainly high-speed rewind is (almost) universal. XBMC has mplayer at its core, and simply this is how mplayer rewind works, so it was inherited. But no, its not a "bug"

Oh yeah, and RTFM next time, its in there somewhere ;)

  - 10-02-2004 2x rw is more like 15x speed
reason: mplayer doesnt support ff/rw. This is the best we can do
- From bugs.txt

As wrayal said, it's not a bug per-se, it's just a lack of a function in XBMC's core (which cannot be helped until Mplayer supports it.)
I've never come across it fast forwarding instead of rewinding tho, perhaps you should submit it to the XBMC team as a bug (and upload the file somewhere if possible so they can see for themselves).
