No it is not modded, but i have removed the microsoft sticker from the casing under the faceplate, as I had tried to remove the casing, but gave up. the sticker is still there, but tamper evident.
And its hard to replace the drive as its a benq drive and they are impossible to find. If i could find one, i would swap the pcb board and install that drive.
Check the magnet inside, clean the lens with rubbing alcohol, clean the lens, adjust the POT.
THEN
If that all fails, dump the BenQ firmware like you were going to flash the drive; boot in to windows use firmware toolbox, grab the drive key from the dumped firmware.
Find ANY drive that is flashable (samsung, hitachi) dump / modify the firmware with the key you extracted from your BenQ and then spoof it with your specific version.
There are tutorials on this forum on how to do it. Don't give up!

Thank you very much, I will do what I can. The only bad thing about getting the key from the drive or even uploading a new firmware to a new drive is that I don't have a desktop pc, just a laptop. lol
By the way, is their a tutorial on how to dissasemble the 360 with out any special tools.
And do I need any special torx driver for the benq drives?
