If it was me I would keep the 1.6 board its not that hard to mod also to get in xb without anyone knowing you could use hair dryer on stickers also you said you bought 1 year warranty well xbox already has 1 year with it anyway but ms in uk told me that shops dont cover that you have to get in contact with them unless its in the first 14 days of purchase then the shop deals with it.

v1.0 mother board
v1.0 power supply
v1.0 daughter board

and everything else will work with it?

just the power supply and the mobo with macthing hard drive.
its just the cable that you connect the dvd and hdd to the mobo with.
if its cheap i would get it.

and why arent you listening to my suggestion.
just pay some one to mod it.
you are just wasting money and time

The case is different in a v1.6 as well (screw holes dont line up), so you will need to buy a:
-non 1.6 motherboard
-non 1.6 powersupply
-non 1.6 case

so there wont be much left of the original xbox, especially if you upgrade the harddrive to a larger one - ie you keep the DVD drive, and swap everything else!

you have to rebuild the lpc so your modchip has access to lad0, lad1, lad2, and lad3 and the proper voltage.
if you take your time and have a decent soldering iron it is not that hard

if your worried about modding your 1.6 theres  a new solderless chip the spiderchip
http://www.spiderchip.com/home.html
maybe try that out.  Havent heard anything about it yet.

So how what would I have to do to fit a 1.6 Motherboard into a 1.4 case?

On the 1.0-1.5 cases the plastic posts where you screw in the AV connector are two high. You have to cut them to about half size. I just used a razor blade with a handle to cut them but im sure there are other ways. Also there is one screwhole missing on the 1.6 board so you have to break off the metal tab over the plastic screw post (this is what was frying peoples boards when they put a 1.6 board in an earlier case) and cut this post off. Again I used a razor blade to cut it. Hope that helps.
