A few days ago my 360 got the 3 red lights
and I did the x-clamp replacement. That fixed
the 3 red light issue but I immediately started
getting E65 which relates to a dvd drive problem.
Its a samsung ms28.
I think its very coincidental that my dvd drive
would crap out at the exact same time as the
3 red lights but thats what it seems happened
and my dvd drive did make a funny noise when
it froze up and gave the 3 red lights.
So... when I power up the 360 i get the one red
light and E65 on the screen. Sometimes the drive
will eject and sometimes it wont. If I unplug either
the power cable to the drive or the sata cable to
the drive and turn on the 360 it boots fine to the
dashboard.
I then flashed my original firmware back to the
drive thinking something happened to the firmware
and still the same exact thing.
I also tried booting the 360 with the sata cable
unplugged. When I get to the dashboard I plug
the sata cable back in and the disc starts to spin
but it never reads. The dash says reading for a
minute then just goes to "open tray"
So I am pretty sure its the dvd drive but could it
also have something to do with the mobo or gpu?
Should I buy a new dvd drive and swap it? If so
then which drive is the best one to get? Any other
ideas to solve this problem?
