Title: Rbjtech's X-clamp Fix Shim Question

hey all,

ive tried the mkiii fix and it worked for a couple of hours and then failed again.
I want to tru and use a shim, but i have no idea where to get 1 or how to make 1.

Can any1 shed some light on this please

Hi Baron, and firstly I have to say why did you not kill Snoopy!!!

I went to the local hardware store which sold sheets of metal and asked for an offcut of 0.5mm Aluminium - they were more than happy for the $5 (actually, I think I received some change!) to which I cut out the shape - and had several months of problem free gaming.

Following a HDD installation, the RRoD's are back and I'm just waiting for the board to cool down after a reflow following a gas soldering iron heat up!

looks like im looking for a metal sheet supplier lol.


also does any1 know somewhere i can get the reballing serice done in the ukm yorkshire area?

you should be able to find what you need in a hardware or hobby store, no need for a metal supplier, you just need a small amount
