Title: E73 Error Fixed!
Post by: shiz on October 14, 2007, 08:26:00 PM
Fixed it!
Performed the xclamp mod on both the GPU and CPU with no effect. I then Heat gunned the board with the heatsinks still clamped, focusing mainly on the the back of the board in the general area where the network port is while expanding in quick circles a around the rest of the board. Same thing on the top of the board but with more care due to the many plastic components.
Plugged it back in, started like a champ! Hopefully that reflowed the solder enough and the problem wont persist.
Hope this helps someone.

Problem is, you can't get the solder nowhere near hot enough to melt any solder, at least without damagin the board.

Now if it worked, good for you, I guess.

yep you're right about the solder, so how do you explain it then? Thermal expansion?

that has to be a hardware mod, because i dont know how he'd do it via the dashboard (if there's even a setting for that :s) when your dash wont even boot in first place due to the error

Hi Shiz, Same problem here, i've been using the x-clamp for about 6 months (redoing every couple of days..) and now i have the E73 error..  Is your 360 still working now,  also do u think i will be able to use a hair dryer instead of a heat gun as i don't have access to a heat gun

Cheers SV
