Title: 360 Wireless Pad Not Binding To Console
Post by: cyberflare on September 21, 2007, 08:22:00 PM
I had my 360 premium console for about 9 months now and just about a little more than a month ago, my wireless controllers decided not to connect to my console. Basically, my wireless controllers don't get an assigned light quadrant when I try to connect them to my console. The pads can turn on the console but they (all 4 pads) will not get an assigned light quadrant. Both the pads and the console can see each other when I try to connect them, but all of my pads just get the four light quadrants, around the guide button, just blinking every half second or so. I have two of the original 360 5controllers and two of the Elite black controllers. They worked fine until that day they decided to stop. I've tried to visit all of the websites that might have any advice on trying to resolve my issue but none of them really matched what I was experiencing. There were similar issues but none had the advice that I was looking for. I also followed all of the XBOX 360 online guides on reconnecting i.e. getting new batteries and disabling every single wireless device at home. No matter what I tried, over and over, all four of my controllers would not bind to the unit. The interesting thing is that all four controllers will connect to my 360 wireless pad game receiver which is connected to my Win XP machine. So I know it's not my controllers. Like what most people would do in my case was to contact Microsoft Support. It took about two days to get back to me but at least they returned my message. Surprisingly, they responded to message using some snippet of the online guide. In my email description to them, I wrote down every possible scenario that I tried; obviously it didn't seem like they read all of my email. I returned a reply and told them that I did that and done that already, and then they responded with another reply which looked like another cut out snippet from the online guide. I pretty much gave up on the support side because I don't think they really know what I'm running into.

Anyways, I was thinking of sending my console back as an RMA to Microsoft to have them fix my console. Now the interesting part, and I thought, "what they heck I'll try it anyways." I decided to get my 360 game pad received from my PC and connect it to my XBOX. Amazingly, the receiver turned on after I powered on my console and then I tried to connect my wireless pad to the receiver. Guess what? My pads connected, got a light quadrant assignment, and not only that, I'm also able to use to play games now on my 360 using the pads. So it seems that MS is using similar receive/transmit hardware in both the console and in the game receiver. I also now know for sure my console has a wireless pad connection problem, and not my pads.

Has anyone ever had this problem of not connecting their wireless pad to their console? If so, any advice? I'd rather play my my console without having to use the game pad receiver connected to my console. At least for now, I can now play with my wireless pads, but I'm still thinking of sending my machine in for repair unless someone has any fixing advice.
