why are people even bothering with this - if MS detects a modded bios then they will get banned? So why the effort to release - unless I'm missing something.

agreed, esp with no legal method to use this product yet with homebrew code...of course people will start saying that they have the legal right to copy their games, which i wish was completely true, although technically it is not unfortunately...

Didn't Xecuter say they were not going to do this for safety??

Well it says:  * Extensivley tested on ALL Hitachi and Samsung (inc Hitachi 46 and 47)

So I assume that we can finally flash our 0079FK and FL drives without soldering (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Nice job Team Xecuter, going to order one as soon as the resellers have them on stock.

afaik they don't detect modded biosses but they check if you are running a backup in your xbox when playing on Live.

Nope. They say you still need to have the drive chipped. The blaster is just a SATA connection to the drive.  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif)

hmmm that is bad news, I searched their site and indeed it doesn't say anywhere you can flash the drive without having it chipped. But then again, they did not mention you needed to have it chipped...  blink.gif

sigh .. I hope a softmod for HT79x drives is released soon ..

I think it's funny that people are saying that the only difference between the Next Edition and the original is cheaper dev costs.

I own one of the original blaster 360s, so it's quite noticable that this time around (like is listed in the features) there is no molex power connection. They say "No need for a seperate PSU - saving you more money and time", but I was pretty sure this was a bad idea.

It has been listed a few times on the backup forums that the system keeps track of being booted up without an optical drive connected, and that's exactly what this new Blaster would do. I've been poking through the guide to see if they have any sort of work around for this, and I can't specifically spot any.

Oh, if you can't understand why they're producing a product like this, you're probably not their target consumer.

I thought that they were 'passing the savings on to us'.  The first retailer I looked at has it at $79.99, which is MORE then the original........

$40 and I might think about it......

I agree, cussing.gif, that's nearly $100 after shipping.

guys there is NO reason to ever buy this accesory at any price (certainly not $70)....its track record for bricking is probably NOT as bad as some would say, but its definately a more sophisticated and INVASIVE approach to flashing the DVD and thus another layer of potential corruption exists during this very delicate traping phase of the DVD firmware...

that's why the easiest and ironically cheapest way to flash the DVD is to use a $4 expansion SATA cable and run the thing out the front of your memory card slot and use DOS based programs to do the flashing..cheap and easy to install and NOT as physically invasive to the airflow inside these very hot 1st and 2nd generation XBOX360 consoles:

plus did anyone notice just how many new cables and expansion boards this thing uses and are now placed inside the confined area of the XBOX360..and held in place with an adhesive backing stip?

Did I read the new installation instructions correctly in that they used an adhesive glue strip or did I mis-read that?

If that is true than that is an incredibly stupid mistake because in time it will certainly soften or even melt and slip and probably ground or ark against something inside the casing if it slips from the back edige of the ventilation holes where it is mounted because of space requirement issues..

...there is definately more equipment being installed and EACH CABLE AND BOARD RESTRICTS AIRFLOW...and that is a luxuury that can NOT be compromised with anything internally, especially now that we usnderstand this GPU gets hot as hell and everthing inside that casing is gettig very hot quickly...arflow is so critical inside those casings...

I used black electrical tape to wrap around the connectors of my SATA extension cable which I stripped down by about 50% with an exacto knife to make them thinner or smaller at the ends of these fat SATA conectors..after just 4 months I took the MS28 back apart and noticed how qucikly the GPU melted some of my tape and cause it to un-wrap itself...I caught it in time but I could see that ahesive tape is a bad idea inside these consoles..

THIS THING IS TOO CUMBERSOME, EXPENSIVE AND FRANKLY UNECESSARY.

also,

Its probbaly not been beta tested properly with the 79FL Hitachi flash (which by MS's own admission is soon expected to be one of the main flashes that will be used by MS in all their ELITE consoles and  future sales..interesting how they AVOIDED this EXTREMELY critical point about the 79FL flash and compatabilty moving forward with this device...it is the SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION AND THEY DID NOT ADDRESS IT DIRECTLY!  that was not by accident either..they know how important that question was, so why wasn't it answered?

This quickly needs a much better answer..

My gut feeling is that it will have its problems too working smoothly with that 79PASSKEY attachement for getting the 79FL DVD flash key (its predecssor had its problems)...especialy considering how vitally important that question needed to be answered and they were not up front about it.....that's a majpor concern to me that it was not properly beta tested again and the use of an adhesive strip seems extremely unwise to use for mounting purposes..even if its termporary or permanant.

if it is not 100% compatable with 79FL, than that is a very dangerous device to use and that may explain why they avoided or were deliberately unclear about this vital question..the 79FL are soon to be the most widely used DVD out there.....everythign else before 79FL drives are being syetematically replaced as they burn up via warrantly replacements and future sales...in less than a year the old MS25, MS28 and older Hiutachis will be a thing of the past and fe wof them still actively used...that BILLION $ write off by MS last month means total console replacement via warranty is expected in the next 3 years...

this is what I use to flash all the hackable DVD's and it costs only $4 plus free shipping when I paid for via PAYPAL:

http://www.newegg.co...N82E16812198012

and I followed the simple tutorial from TEXTBOOK on how to run the cable out of the front of the memory card slot..although there are other ways it could have been installed internally...but people doing this method have bricked far fewer DVD's that is for sure...

Here is the installation guide:

Yes the problem is worse than I expected...

The SEU board is not only held inplace by a foam adhesive strip but its mounted in the right rear quadrant covering up 15 of the 58 of the critical ventilation holes..that's a 25% restriction of critical air flow out those vital ports..there are 58 of them for a reason and every one of them has been calculated to be critical they CAN NEVER BE covered up..end of story!

this is an unbelievable design error to say the least, so bad in fact that even a newbie can see the obvious truth..especially now that we understand how critical air flow isnide these consoles.

In fact IMHO its very dangerous to use now that we know how critical every cubic inch of air flow is inside these extremly hot consoles is becoming and will only get worse as the newer XBOX360 games start to tax the GPU even further for HIGH DEF content, which we have been told is much higher than currently being used

http://www.team-xecu...laster360ne.htm

I wouldn't use this thing even for free..its too dangerous and that SEU board needs to installed on the outside of the shell or integrated elsewhere and not inside the casing..that is too dangerous where its located and how its mounted...

With the blaster 360 can you dual boot the firmware?
