Title: E71 Or 3 Red Lights And Then Plays Fine

I have a modified premieum been working great. Didn't use it for 2 weeks turned it on 3 days ago and got this
1) games playing but when dvd was spinning down it made a bad grinding noise
2)games started to freeze
3)dashboard on boot up froze
4)3 red lights

in that order orver a span of 1/2hr
I called microsoft and sure enough while i was on the one the dam thing worked fine, so i left it
Player for 2 days no problems
Didn't play yesterday so i turned it on today and
1)games started to free
2)dashboard froze
3)3 red lights
4)1 red light E71
Called microsoft and within 15 mintues of being on hold the dam thing started to work and i played for 3 hours no problems

What gives? My warranty ends in nov2007, i didn't do the firmware mod myself so i have no idea if the sticker is remove, should i send it in for warranty and hope for the best?

Your warranty ended the second you had it modified it, period.

Hard to tell what the E71 really was/is, no one is 100% sure what code is for what problem, and multiple things could also throw the same one, so it's hard to tell. Your 360 is just going down the tubes like oh so many others already have, and so many more will. Try the X-clamp replacement mod since your warranty is gone and M$ isn't gonna touch it.

Deffinitely agree with RDC. Sounds pretty damn typical to me, read up on the 3ROL error. I did lawdawgs tutorial, and flawless for months now. The disk sound... probably nothing out of the ordinary, the dvd drives always make obscene sounds when loading, etc( in my opinion ).

I have heard that when they grind like that they are not aligned right (it happens) but i found a tut somewhere showing how to fix it but idk where it was...just google it.
