Title: Temperature Reading ~6in Behind Fans?
Post by: ydgmms on April 24, 2007, 10:10:00 PM
Has anyone put a basic thermometer behind the 360s fan and get an ambient temp?

Mines running hotter than I remember... So out of curiosity. I tossed a thermometer back there  and it averages ~120 most at 122.

I've done a few mods.

Talismoon (one side is stock one side is at 5V - transistor blew waiting for replacement)
AS5
RBJTech 3RLoD fix.
thermal pads on 6/8 RAM
heatsinks on 2/8 RAM
heatsink on southbridge
I cut away the metalshielding behind the fans (left plastic for now)

I tested behind a friends console also... it was ~113-115
AS5
LawDawgs 3RLoD fix
thermal pads on 6/8 RAM
heatsinks on 2/8
heatsink on southbridge
stock fan (one side running at 12V - one side stock)

I dont have any other type of thermometers .. thinking of getting an IR one.

Anyway... can anyone tell me what the average ambient temp roughly 6inches behind the fans is?

I'm desperately trying to think of ways to cool my box... heh.. I've added a cutout for a 60mm fan, but haven't ordered one - looking for a dead silent one.

TIA
