Title: Missing Capacitor Or Resistor Under Er Cpu 360.
Post by: q4y2 on March 18, 2007, 01:29:00 PM
Maybe someone can help me out here.

Missing info/data on 2 capacitor or resistor under the cpu on my xbox 360, and need to replace it. Busted off then i was removing the heat thing something.

The X-clamp that holds on the heatsink, and they are Capacitors. wink.gif

No one has posted the values of all the different caps on the motherboard. Those all there in that grouping are the exact same value though and in a "push come to shove" decision could probably be left off and wouldn't make much of a difference.

If you want to replace them you'll have to either pull off one of the good ones there and measure it, or get them from another board.

I have looked at my board and those CAPS all seem identical.  I'm sure if you found a CAP on another board with the same size and color then it would work.

Thats a really clear photo.  I did something similar and ripped a couple of components off as can be seen in this thread:

I would really appreciate if you could take a photo of the part of the board that I have the problem with.

Thanks

@ steddyman - Just because a part looks the same doesn't mean it is the same. There are sometimes 5 to 10 values or more those type of caps can be and all still be the same color/size.

Hi Steddyman

RDC already made a better photo. I will make one in high resolution if you want.

You have to have a meter that can measure cap values. wink.gif

You're only 2 real options at the moment are to get them off another dead board from someone, or have a go without them and see what happens. All of them there are tied together and are for filtering purposes, so having the one or two missing is most likely to not make a noticeable difference at all, though replacing them would still be the better option.
