Title: Help With Broken Hitachi Drive

I modded my Hitachi drive with a NME 1.1 chip.  I had everything soldered nicely and when I hooked it up It seemed to overheat.  I opened it up and one of the wires had broken off.  I haven't been able to get it to work since.  Can I replace this drive with a samsung and if so, how do I get the key off the dead hitachi if it is truely dead?
