Post by: madcowgod on January 09, 2007, 02:48:00 PM
Hello everyone.  I was thinking abnout a temp fix for my xbox 360 but I need to know one thing first.

How do you remove the ram chips from the motherboard?

Any info would be great.
Thanks!

I'm not too sure why you'd want to remove the RAM chips from the motherboard, seems silly somehow, and being as your asking i'd guess you'll never remove them and the board or the chip be any good unless you get someone else to do it for you, even then i'm unsure why you'd want to do this.

Easiest way, is to use a proper BGA rework station and remove them using that, this will be somewhat simple to remove, putting it back is another story. Too much heat will also damage the board, or the chip your removing.

If your trying to remove one from a scrap board, just try using a heat gun or something. Fitting it back would be difficult, via this method, and you'd be very very lucky to ever getting it working again, which also would require major skill.

In the past i removed and have done major rework to the original xbox 1 CPU, heres a couple of pics i originally took. Ive still not got it 100% though, still in development, if i'll ever get it right or not, who knows.

Good luck if you decide to go further.
