Post by: iacon22 on December 31, 2006, 09:24:00 AM
I have a wireless controller that has the left thumbstick (the part on the board) broke on it. I was wanting to know if it can be replaced

you would probably be cheaper buying yourself a new controller and seeling your broken one for spares or repairs.

You can replace it with another stick from another 360 controller or from any of the M$ brand XBOX controlelrs, they use the same type of stick. Te thing with replacing them is, on the 360 controllers, they are SUPER picky about being set in there just right. If you swap the stick out and notice that one direction isn't quite as fast as it use to be even though you have the stick pressed all the way, it will have to be desoldered, moved a fraction of a hair, then soldered back in until you hit the"spot" where the thing will work like the original one did. They're just picky, picky, picky as can be, but it can be done.

PM sent.

I'm sure there are more than a few guys that can do the job and have the parts, but getting it repaired is gonna run ya at least around half what the controller is worth if ya have to ship it somewhere to get done.

Checking out the BST for a used controller would be your best bet, MeKiwi has a ton of them that are in really good shape and are a down right steal, he may be interested in yours as well for parts. If ya keep it you'll have that one for spare parts, to fix up later on if ya want to or sell it for parts as grim_d suggested already. There are more than a few others floating around on there also that might be worth snagging instead of having yours fixed.
