Title: Yet Another 0102 Fix
Post by: dayv25 on November 28, 2006, 01:06:00 AM
I have had my box since june & rarley even play it 60-80 hours max since i bought it. about 2 weeks ag i started getting random freezes. hten it progressed into 3 lights with 0102. so i did what all have tried " the famous heatgun". it worked... for about an hour. so i tried again, thinking that i must not have got it hot enough or in the right areas. let it cool. try it out and great no 3 rol, but no video either! WTF? so i looked all over forums, all over google, and no real definintive answers i was pisssed, thoinking i hankered me box once and for all.  so I decided to do the old replace thermal paste which did nothing, then i was thinking about the heatgum theory & was wondering why it even worked period. so i started getting curious and tried applying pressure on different points on the mobo while powering it on to see if i got any video or different error. I found that applying pressure on the hynix flash rom located between the gpu heatsink & the hdd plug on the mobo made my 360 spit out video!! so i decided to re-solder the legs of the hynix chip (the chip looks almost identical to the tsop on 1.0-1.5 xbox 1's). I gobbed a bunch of solder on the legs making sure to get them all properly heated, then i pulled it all out using de-soldering braid aka wick. And boom, VIDEO! i have been rocking for about 7 hours full playtime with no error as of yet. maybe i am lucky? dunno, but i aint bitchin. I also included a link to the only page i know of with info & pix of the chip, and all sorts of info on it.
