I was playing Rainbow Six: Las Vegas and everything on the screen turned a greenish tint. The game played perfectly but the tint wouldn't go away no matter what I did. I shut down the system, tried a different game and the problem reappeared after a few minutes of play.
I then tried to switch to a different component input with no luck. I decided to leave it unplugged while I went to work that night and upon returning, the system produced no video or audio signal. There were no red lights displayed so I assume there is no error code; it seems as though the video chip has died.
Anyone with a similar experience?
Is there any known fix other than sending it to MS? (Assuming the hot air gun trick won't work for this).
(I searched the forums but after staying up all day and night it was a little hard to pay attention. If the answer is on the forum, just say so and I'll continue to search)
Thanks in advance.

You plugged the AV cable all the way in? Are the component cables from the premium system, if so, is the switch ALL the way to one side? If the switch isn't to one side or the other, that can cause alot of problems with video.

Thanks for the reply.
Yes, I am using the premium component cables. The cables are secure in the 360 and in the tv. The HDTV/TV switch is on the HDTV side, not in the middle. I've tried hooking it up using composite, no luck. I have even tried a different set of HD cables (another set of premium 360 ones) and that didn't work either. I'm thinking the video chip probably died but want to be certain before I try a fix (if one is available) or decide what I want to do with it.

Yea, I would have to agree there is something wrong with the hardware then. I know my HD cables didn't have the switch all the way over one time with my first 360, and the screen was a wierd tint with no sound, but it was fine after realizing what was wrong. I would call tech support and see what they say, if your box is still under warranty. Although, the odd thing in all of this, is that if the GPU did fry, it would give you the red ring and an error, so I wouldn't do the heat gun trick just yet. Maybe your A/V port is broken? Thus the 360 functions fine, but the port itself doesn't work, so no video/sound?

Quite possibly. I need to figure out what I'm going to do since I broke the warranty seal. Anyways, thanks for your replies.

About a day before my 3 lights of death, I had a problem where my box would freeze with no audio or video screen was just black. This sounds similar to the symptoms you discribed, I would not be suprised if you get the 3 lights soon if not already.

deciple hits it on the head.. that is EXACTLY what i got... hey deciple.. how did you fix it?

May sound stupid but did you try your 360 on another tv? If its a crt tv, when they die they can get a green or pink tint. Just an idea as you didnt mention if youd tried it. Also the cable/input could be damaged. You said that the game plays fine, but you get no audio and a green tint? My old tv would do exactly the same thing as yours with my sattelite tv. I plugged the cable into another input on the tv and it worked fine.

Check this link out its work in progress.... http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=566797

No, I haven't tried it on another tv but I hooked up another 360 using the same cables/same input and it works.
