First time I turn the xbox on I do not get a picture on my LCD TV, I have to turn the xbox on then off again and it will boot up as normal. No lights, no error codes or anything.
Am I doing something wrong or is this a common fault? Do I have a faulty xbox? I am using a Dell W2600 LCD screen.

Let me ask you this..When you are not getting any video on the screen, if you look close at it.. Do you see anything? Like a pattern of faint white dots moving?

Three weeks later, a replacement system (Sept manf date) arrived at my door. Set it up, hit power... and nothing. Same problem. Immediately call MS to vent, got routed to a supervisor. I explained the problem and my concerns about it possibly evolving into the freezing issue again and was flat out told: "send it in again... it will only get worse." So I did.
If you've still got your warranty, I highly suggest you send it in for repairs. If not, I hope she was wrong and they are not related.
On a side note, just to finish the story... the third console I received after the above repair call did boot fine on first power on... whew! Unfortunately, I received it during the short time that the Fall Update still had the E71 glitch in it and didn't know about it. Well, you can guess the rest of the story... BACK TO MICROSOFT FOR THE THIRD TIME!
Still waiting for it to come back...

In any event, if nobody ever finds a fix for this, I'll just keep using it until it dies. When it does, I'll either send it in for repair or just find a deal on a core system.
I wonder if there are any solder problems on the A/V encoder. Almost like it takes one boot to warm up enough to complete the connection. If these are all May dates, then there could have been a factory hiccup and there are several hundred (or thousand) out there with this problem.

This is exactly what happens with mine.
And this is the same solution I did. I'm going to use my premium system until it breaks down, already have my core modded and ready to go. Cost me $200 for a brand new core. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the signal, but I doubt it. I may plug it back into my TV to double check.
Hopefully someone finds a solution. I tried taking the entire thing apart but stopped when the heat syncs weren't coming off (shows me that the thermal compound is properly done). Other than that, the board is completely clean and everything looks pretty much the same as in my new system.
