If the HD is unlocked, shouldnt we be able to FTP it via a network cable?

Correct.
btw, the harddrive does not lock/unlock. You can hook it straight up to your pc and view the files on it if you wanted.

I knew that, but a SATA adapter is like $30, and IMO not worth that much just to look on the harddrive

Well it's the only way right now. Either SATA or wait for homebrew.

Just wondering, I noticed when you go to the media section on the xbox it said Video's, and in the memory page under HD it has a Video directory, and I thought there would be a way to put video on the HD. Eh, I'll just wait for homebrew or something.

That's for streaming video. No data ever gets stored on the HDD, just pushed from PC through to display.
That, or the videos you've bought via the Marketplace...

Newegg has a USB 2 SATA converter for $20.

sata controllers cost about 5 pound trade prices in uk u just gotta know where to get em from tbh like www.cclonline.com

pci sata adapter is like 10 bucks from newegg
molex to sata power adapter is like 5 bucks, one came with my mobo
and the pci card should come wiht a sata cord or two
15 bucks aint that much to connect up your HDD to your PC

i know i think its good regarding the things youll be able to do with it after a while like install software etc probably who knows emulators everything
