Title: Dec 6 2005 Manuf Date Finally Has Problems
Post by: echto on August 19, 2006, 09:19:00 PM
My 360 with a manufacturing date of Dec 6 2005 is starting to freeze quite a bit.  Prey no longer loads the first level and other games just randonly freeze.  I did experience a graphic glitch for a moment during the second ChromeHounds training mission, the HOUND blurred a bit.

N3 pulled a Condemned on me today.  During game play the DVD drive spun down and started ticking.  The screen went blank and I then received the DD error.  I use a Condemned reference because that was the first game that started the DVD spin down on me.

The machine does not, and has never, display any read lights after boot up.  I have called MS and a coffin is on its way.

bummer.

...oh yeah.  And the MS rep was an idiot.  The first 5 minutes of the call was a debate about calling the same number back and selecting the xbox live option.  ...All because I answered yes to his question "Do you connect to xbox live."

Good choice calling MS.  The sooner you call the better.
In about a week's time you should have a new (actually more like refurbished) Xbox360.

Received the coffin today.  Wow.. a box in a box.  Inside the box is an instruction sheet, a plastic bag, a UPS label, and a round, clear sticker.  Joy.

LOL...right?
I get tired-head really quick when they give me the basic steps...reboot, unplug, replug, remove hardware (hdd, whatever), remove game...GEEZ.  I know how to troubleshoot.

I'll drop it off personally to the UPS station Monday.  Since its a 3 day return ticket why send it today when it'll just sit in a warehouse over the weekend.

One question comes to mind though.  Since everything is associated with the serial number, why then do they want me to fill out the instuction page with my name, address, serial number, return reference number, etc...  McAllen, Tx doesn't have access to the same network or something?  odd.

I received 'a' 360 back today and I find it hard to believe that its a refurbished.  I actually think its brand new.  I even had to do a dash update on it when connecting to live the first time.   This 360 I received has a manufacturing date of 4-14-2006 and a hitachi drive.  The core I bought to use while the premium was sent off has a manufacturing date of 5-26-2006 and a samsung drive.  The one I sent in has a samsung.

The replacement and the core I bought have been running without any problems so far.

One thing I did notice on the two 360 I now have  are the ventilation holes.  It appears that almost every single hole is open unlike the 360 I sent in.

interesting.
