40usd XBL Vision camera, UNO Bundle and Prices and Dates other Accessories-- Posted by XanTium on June 2 09:36 EST
From joystiq.com:
Our friendly anonymous source at Microsoft has provided us with a few more details concerning the 360 accessories announced back at E3.
Perhaps the most important involves the bundling of the Xbox Live Vision camera with a wired headset, the popular Live Arcade title UNO, and a month of Live Gold service for $39.99 when it releases in the States on September 19, 2006.
Granted, this is still an unofficial report (based on a leak of "official" info), so understand that you're probably not gonna get much confirmation from MS until they're good and ready to give it. Here's information on what other peripherals are coming out "Holiday 2006" (so sometime in the 4th quarter) and at what price:
* New faceplates featuring Halo, Forza 2, & Viva Pinata for $19.99 each
* Wireless headest with a 30-foot range for $59.99
* 256MB Memory Unit for $59.99
* Wireless gaming receiver for $19.99 (but it'll go on sale in Winter 2007, unlike the others, probably around the month of February)

Yaaaaay! Halo faceplates!!!!!!
-
$40 sounds about right to me, I'll take one.
-
i wasnt planning on getting the camera, but hell if i get all that for 40 bucks i just may do it- i need a headset anyway.
headset=$20 uno=couple bucks 1month xbl=$8.00
so its like getting a camera for 10 bucks man.

While I think the $40 price point for the camera bundle is dead on, I really hope that MS offers a $30 unbundled SKU. I have UNO, 2 headsets and 1 year of Live; I don't need more of them. I'd rather have Poker come bundled. I'm hopeful MS won't force the bundle on us.
As for $60 for a 256Mb memory card, MS is batshit-fucking-crazy. I can buy 2 GIGS on a flash drive for $60. It makes zero sense beyond very obvious price gouging. And please don't say "but M$ has to make money sumwher! lol!!1..." They don't need to rob us. I wouldn't sweat paying $40 for a 256Mb memory card, but at $60, I can just spend $40 more and get 20 Gigs. That doesn't make any sense. Especially when MS claims the Core 360 is for "cost-conscience" consumers. Anyone else smell that bullshit? Correction: I can get 2Gb for $50 HERE.
I'm out to lunch on the $130 steering wheel. The coolness factor is high, but I really would have liked to see it come in at $100 even. I know it's asking alot, but I can dream. Finally, The $60 wireless headset bites my balls a tad, but I'll probably pay the price because I detest the wire hanging in my lap. Plus the added notion that I can use all this wireless stuff on my PC with a $20 accessory is worth it to me.
We'll have to see; I know this is all rumor anyway, but Joystiq is fairly trustworthy.

The camera bundle price is a pleasant suprise. I may actually pick one up.
Now tell me one thing, why do I need a 30' range with a wireless headset? When would I be 30' away from the controller? Never. The only way that would make sense is if it communicated directly with the console as opposed to a reciever plugged into the controller, which would be badass.

It's 30 ft from the console. The wireless headset bonds with the console, not the controller (at least that's what I've read from E3). It's the same wireless tech as the controllers.

Arrg these pricks drive me nuts!
I was going to purchase the 1 year LIVE bundle in the store. You get:
1 year of LIVE
Headset (awesome for another local player)
$20 off any game (SWEET)
200 MS Points
Bankshot Billiards 2 (FUCK I ALREADY BOUGHT THAT)
OK. So screwed there. $15 down the tubes - dammit! So that *basically* negates the $20 off any game. The value is ok, but not as good as it should be.
Now we have the camera bundle!
Xbox Live Vision camera
Headset (ok, so now I would have 3)
UNO (FUCK I ALREADY BOUGHT THAT)
1 month of Live Gold (FUCK I ALREADY BOUGHT THE 1 YEAR SUB!)
So now *THAT'S* not such a great deal. I wish they would just give you points instead so you can buy a game or 2 on arcade. Arrg. I hate feeling ripped off. I would probably not get the camera now because I am being forcefed stuff I can't use / don't want. Give me a deal on the wireless headset instead or something.
-
I think the whole thing is a very good deal. I would probably call MS if I owned one of the included games though and ask if you could have some points or whatnot instead, maybe even another vision compatible game in trade or discount. I'm sure the discs come with a serial number so if you do own the game you could sell your disc-based copy and let someone install it instead and get some return on investment there. I don't recall hearing all these same complaints when XBL bundled Mechassault with it's subscription, just consider it nice MS is putting out a very good product at a very good price.

I'm really looking forward to the wireless receiver. Wireless 360 controllers to play emulators and stuff!

You're correct that MS put out bundles of Live, but the point is that you can buy Live seperately (with a credit card). I just want the same privaledge afforded to me... a non-bundled camera.
-
sheesh guys relax already they arent going to make you go buy that bundle deal they will have it with just the camera by itself.
-
Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan....
I don't mean to whine but I can't help it -- I am among the most stoked people about the Vision camera, and heard the previous rumor of the same price and a bundled game and 1 month of gold service, but now to find out that bundled game is UNO -- which I have purchased already, really upsets me (and will others, too).
I'll still gladly pay the $40 for the camera, but GD it -- I already have XBL Gold and I already paid for Uno -- I, like many, was 90% sure the "bundled game" would be the release of Texas Hold 'Em on Live Arcade, which makes a lot more sense than Uno.
But anyway, why not give a choice? MS is all about the 2 SKU's so why not offer the same Vision camera but one version bundled with Uno (for those who haven't purchased it and want it) and one version bundled with a different, brand-new XBL Arcade Title (such as the poker game that'll come out Texas Hold Em, or whatever they are calling it) ???
PS & BTW: I don't really care for the poker title that will be released, but it's better than getting a bundled game I've already bought. :|

Yeppers... Like I just posted after you, I am just upset about getting games I already own. What a joke.
Hopefully it'll be a "Live Arcade" token we redeem to get the full version of Uno. If so, we can sell this on eBay (the token code) hahaha. That would rock.
But yeah, either warn us that X game (such as Uno) will be bundled with an upcoming peripheral; give us another game option instead; or give us MS points; OR just sell it seperate.
I got a MBA (Masters degree in Business Administration) so I am not surprised by these moves by MS and will still gladly pay for it bundled, if I have to. Again, since I know business I understand why they're doing this - both the avoidable and unavoidable spoiles of bundles with buying a "Live" kit from Best Buy that's bundled with a game or some other accesory -- It's a good business model but just sucks for some of us like me and you.
Oh well.

I hope and suspect M$ will just give people 400 MS points to be used to get uno. The reason I think that is because uno is a live arcade game. They cant just put an installer on a CD b/c then people could install it on numberous 360s. They would somehow have to have a way to marry a CD to a particular profile which would not be possible w/o putting unique IDs on each CD and then going online to see if the CD had already been used to install the game under a different profile. So either the game will require the CD to play (like a normal 360 game) or they will give you a code to download it. I dont think live marketplace is set up to enter codes for specific content so I think that it will be a code for 400 MS points. Granted, they could be upgrading the marketplace to allow content codes. If they do do that, and you already paid for the content, then hopefully the code will just give you points.

so thats 49 cnd....omg thats an awesome price

-
The camera has a really good price.
I will just have to sell the headset and live since I already have plenty.
The ridiculously expensive item is the 256mb memory unit for $59.99!!!
Who would pay $60 for a Memory Unit if you can get the 20GB Hard Drive for around that price on ebay?
Will not sell that well for sure.

Agreed, but on the flipside of things if a 64mb memory unit ran $39.99 (or $29.99, I'm not positive) and you wanted the ability to transfer your game saves I'd rather spend a little more for 4x the space.
True, you're being ripped off in terms of flash-based memory prices, but 8mb PS2 or Xbox memory cards ran $29.99 when they were introduced and they were a rip-off then just as they are now. Ideally a USB stick adapter or something will be made instead.
