Title: Xbox 360 Steering Wheel
Post by: davemire on April 17, 2006, 08:39:00 AM
Hi Guys, There has been a lot of hot water regarding the lack of FF for the xbox/xbox 360 steering wheels. Having said that I realize that it's not nearly as good without it yet I really want one as PGR3 is taking over my system. Could anyone who has one or has tried one give me an idea of which is best to use!?
Also, are all the stick's (shifter) simply up and down or do any of them feature different positions for different gears!?
Thanks Guys!

hmm I stand corrected, I didn't realize MatCatz released their racing wheel
No Worries
Has anyone had any use of them though. Like I want to get more into the game but at the same time I don't want to be burning hard earned $$$

shame the ps2 Gt4 wheel logitech made cant be made to work with x360, thats is a fine wheel and prolly wouild be nice for pgr3 as well.
I guess the steering wheels aren't that popular; hence the amount of responses. Oh well guess I will have to stick with the ol' controller.

i tell you why they aren't populair it's because you can't practicly use them
1 you are sitting on a chare and you have it on your lap first it plays well then it starting to get irretating and you keep kicking the gas pedal away
2 you are sitting on the ground after 20 min. or so you get a hard but if not then af there playing about 2 days you are getting pain in your neck
THEY ARE NOT PRACTICAL DON'T BUY UNLESS YOU WANT TO F*CK UP GAMEING

Its just preference. I own one for my xbox and ps2.
After a day or so and I got used to it I never stopped using them. And you said the gas slides and stuff... What kind of floor are you on?

I've never owned one but I had a few friends that did and they built a frame around the wheel and pedals, complete with a car seat
Some of the better wheels will have a platform extending towards you from the bottom of the pedals, that way your heel rests on the platform and keeps the pedals in place

what i hate about the Madcatz wheel is that its the Same exact thing as the Xbox version. oh, but it has a guide button. forgot about that. never mind.
anywayz, i had the xbox madcatz wheel. works well, sensitivity is adjustable and the pedals have a spot for your other foot to rest (on the left of the pedals) and keeps the thing from sliding. otherwise, yes they do slide a lot and you have to keep fixing it after every race.
but, why am i not better with the wheel than i am with the controller? this i may never know.... fuggit

OPINION: I will never race without one. Build a stand/frame for the wheel/pedals. I've made 2 over the years. Real easy and fun to build. Just need some 2x4s, screws, drill, and a saw. There just isn't any real enjoyment or realism sitting on the couch or floor with the wheel in your lap. Man up, take 30 minutes and create a stand. P.S. no racing on the 360 until there is a verified FF wheel available.

I have been checking them out as well I have a perfect desk for one. First of all I use my computer I have 2 lcd's hooked up my left one is hooked to the 360 and runs as a dual monitor from my computer using the DVI on it as well. And i have a perfect amount of space for a wheel and theres also a little leg rest platform on the bottom of the desk thats removable and I could just use that so it won't slide.
