ok I've got an external 80gb hdd and i wanna use it on my xbox 360 but its not workin...and yes it turned on

you cant. the only thing you can use an external USB HDD for is MP3s and pics. it wont work like the retail xbox 360 HDD

i have seen guides for this. dont have the link right now. you have to format it to fat32 file system (right?) xp cant format that big of a drive so you have to use a program Partition Magic to formate it or use win98. once again like mitch2025 said you can only put music and pics. it prob be best to put the hard drive in your comp and stream it over your network.

Plug in hard drive to usb port

Turn on hard drive

done.

NTFS works as that's how i format all my things, some external drives need the hdd to be set on master or CS to work

well according to the llamma page, it has to be FAT, not NTFS

I will give it a go does it have to be usb v2.0 or any version of usb.

eitehr USB 1.1 or 2.0 will work, its just that 2.0 will be a lot faster. you may not notice it that much just looking at pictures and playing music though. Id still get a USB 2.0 one.
