Title: How Many Times Should An X360 Crash To Be Faulty?
Post by: Ozy on December 18, 2005, 11:55:00 AM
mine has crashed 6 times now on PD0. I have my xbox on an open shelf with lots of space at the back horizontally. The shelf is glass so conducts the heat to the air below and the psu is on the other side of this large shelf away from the console.

It is not a heat issue.

It has frozen in the game, on loading screens, title screens and open involve the guide such as trying ot go back to the dash via the guide button etc.

How often should the x360 crash. I mean what 3 crashed a week is that normal?

I don't get much time to play on my console, I'd say I've been on for about 16 hours since decemeber 2nd.

Thanks guys.

Have you checked your disc for scratches? Even if you touched your 360 while it has a game in it you will mess up the disc.

im getting random freezes also.. so far on PDZ, Quake 4, and NFSMW.

beat all of condemned with no freezes, problem recognizing disc tho.
no problems with CoD2 either, yet.

i guess, CoD 2 is the only ones thats been completely glitch free.

well i wouldnt call freezing crashing.

is there any one point where it freezes most of the time? if there is, and you have a mate with a 360, take the disc over and play it in his and see if it keeps freezing

No scratches on my disc at all. Also the x360 is so rare in the Uk that I'm the only one I know within 30 miles that has one.

Ofcourse there are people who have them near me, but I don't know them.

LOL COD2 is a POS!!! Seriously though it really pisses me off how it will randomly decide to erase your gamesaves. It wont let me unlock certain levels now, and that is after I beat the entire game and it erased all of it.

yeah, ive never had any data corruption.. but im usually streaming music from my PC while i play.. if that has anything to do wiht anything...

but today it hasnt froze yet, and ive been playing about 10 hours...

prolly logged on about 50 - 60 hours at least in the last 5 days, and 5 crashes... so a crash every 10 hours basically.

Well crashing is unaceptable. You can't say that it something to expect - if crashing was supposed to happen then it would be listed in the instruction booklet and MS would actually by law have to mention this.

When my retailer has the console in I will exchange it, this is not a developing fault as the hardware has not changed, it is a fault that has being there since the date of purchase in which case I am entitled to a refund/exchange under british law.

Thanks anyway guys.

yeah, its the same for all countries i think. if i got one that was playing up, id be taking it back too. its just that if it was only one agme, then its obviously the coding of the game, not the hardware

If mine crashed even once, I would get it repaired exchanged.

CRASHING IS NOT EXCEPTABLE!

Your PC crashes all the time but you don't ring up the manufacturer and complain. Just accept it like everybody should do! Hooray!!

i will definity one way or another get a hopefully updated 360 whenever i exchange it at target... given it hasnt crashed in 3 days or so, i havent been playing it nearly as much as i did the first 4-5 days i had off work and spend 8-10 hours a day gaming.

shitty i gotta buy a memory card... unless i can put the save games to a thumbdrive.. heh, that would be sweet.

And you were defending him in the other thread tongue.gif

How can it be possible that this guy works for "Customer Support"? Unless they really are outsourcing

Edit: As for his check the time crap, the 360 sets the time automatically thru live (atleast thats how my 360 does it)

i was saying that you shouldnt call all people, people you dont know, stupid.

I know what you mean. But seriously, obviously this guy dosen't work for M$. If he does, then they need to choose their employees more carefully. It's just funny to me how people come out of no where, claiming to work for M$. If this guy does work for them, then they should can him. He dosen't even know that 360 automatically sets the time(most likely dosen't even own one). Yet he is running around the forums, claiming to know what he is doing.
