Title: Possible Hd Upgrade?

Well i'd think hardware wise it's compatible. but the xbox 360 would have a FATX or whatever filesystem. So until you can generate that than no probably.

thats because its an oem drive its made especially for the 360

no it wouldnt because the drive would be locked and we need to find a way to unlock it and the only way that we currently know of is to do it from the inside (i.e we need a mod chip to unlock it for us).
same prob with the last xbox we needed to unlock it from the inside.

Are you sure it's locked? I'm just thinking of how the last xbox locked the drives. You can swap hard drives with this one so it's not locked down to JUST that hard drive like the original was.

If it is locked, I'm just wondering how that works since if my buddy has one he can use his in mine and vice versa.

I'd love to get a bigger hard drive in the thing too. I did notice it had a format option in the dash...

Maybe i shoulda added the fact that the stock hard drives are interchangeable w/ other peoples consoles. Pointing at the fact that they are not locked to a specific system. i just thought we all knew that. I also was aware that the hd was made for m$ so we wouldnt actually find it on the manufaturer's site. However you are most likely right. I'm sure some coding is on the hd's to say "hey i'm a 360 hd" that info shouldnt be difficult to copy over. What if you have a hd duplicator? I was just posting my findings. thanks

i would just say us a linux/unix/mac machine and dd it all over, i know windows has a dd port of some kind but it doesnt work at the same level as dd for *nix based machines

Ok... I must have typed this one hundred times.

Xbox 360 hard drives come with 3 partition that are needed:
1.)Emulation software and patches
2.)System Verication Files and System files
3.)User files (such as game saves)

You cannot just pop in the hard drive into you computer and transfter the files because it is a diffrent file structure. and it is also in FATX

Also it is not possable to use Nortion Ghost to directly copy the hard drive because nortion cant work with it or read it (they created there own file structure)

Useing lunix will not work because that would require the same model, and same serial number.

You best bet would be to wait untill us hackers get to know the file structure.
