I am almost positive that it was stated that only the 360-branded USB adapter will work. Otherwise you must use a bridge.

Only the Official XBOX 360 USB Wireless adapter will work via a USB connection.
However most wireless network bridges that connect to the system via the ethernet port should also work.

I recall an interview on the mainpage where one of the MS guys said that most USB adapters will work.

Im using the Linksys Wireless Gaming Adapter (wga54g)... it works fine, but I haven't tried it with Windows Media Center.
This is not a USB adapter... Its an ethernet adapter. It's cheaper then the MS USB Adapter, and you can use it with your old xbox/ps2/gamecube.

I can confirm that a Linksys WUSB11 v.2.6 USB 802.11b adapter does not work. (Was worth a try...) Gets power when plugged into the USB port, no signs of link activity even trying though, doesn't show up in the network settings on the system blade. I'm thinking it's an issue of what drivers the 360 has loaded...
Wonder who makes the "Official" 360 adapter? Anyone feel like pryin' one apart to see if there's any hints? :P
