I'm in australia and we're not getting the xbox360 here for a long time, so i'm getting a US NTSC model.
I'll need a stepdown converter because we have 240v power over here, I just need some advice on what will work.
ok so I know the US PSU specs are 110v 5.0amps input... 550watt
so I checked ebay and found this- http://cgi.ebay.com......AMEWA:IT&rd=1
something like that over here in australia would set you back well over $200USD
so it's a great deal... i'm just not sure if it will do the job.
i'd like opinions from people with electronics experience, I don't want anything to blow up.
cheers!

you are aware that the 360 has region locks right? you're going to have to import your games even after the system is available in your region

aquiring a PAL PSU would be ideal, but I don't have that option at the moment, even if I could order one from MS uk it's take time to get to me which goes against the purpose of importing in the first place.
300w may not be enough mate, give it a shop but you may end up with a paperweight (the transformer I mean).
I think i'll go 500w, should be under $100AUD, half the price of a similar transformer in our shops.
another descision I have to make is which game to get!?
I can only get 1 to start off with, I think PDO will be where everyone is online but there's a chance it'll be a lemon.
I need reviews!

that's right, I don't know why but they are so expensive here in comparison with the us, i'm not paying $200+ that's for sure

I have a mate in London and another in Toronto (who scored 4 VIP tickets to the Canadian main launch there!).
They are both sending me X360s so I can use the UK 240V power pack with the US console (for cheaper games) :-)
Can't wait!

Why don't you just wait a week and get a Euro one with the right PSU?
Admitedly the games are a bit pricier, but you'd also get the scart adapter and it'll be Pal so you can use it on any old TV.

a 500W one won't work. You'd need 5.5*100=550W.
I'm also from Australia.

With that link, it shows that its 220V, isn't Australia 240V?
