well yes your right, there is a hell of a lot more advanced technology inside the 360. i woudl expect it to get very hot indeed. as long as it is pushing all of that hot ait outside of the case, i dont think that there would be much to worry about. m$ would have done their homework on this, and would know that the cooling that it has is sufficient not to cause (much) damage.

did you pre order the mini ac that sits next to the 360? i am putting mine where it has good air flow.

i think one of the designers said you get better airflow if the 360 is placed vertically

but i dunno

its normal fo it to generate more heat then xbox1
Its consuming more power afterall.

That said, the first v1.0 xboxes generate alot more heat then v1.6 xboxes.
this has to do with production optimization and the size of the fabprocess.

i would expect a similar evolution for x360 hardware

360's have died in all the walmarts in my town.  They seem to last about a week or so.  They survive in BB tho.   uhh.gif   Guess its the case they keep it in.

I'd expect it to throw out a lot of heat.  As long as most of that heat is escaping.  As for the top warming up...I'd expect that too because of the huge copper heatsink it has inside.  The 360 I was looking at in my local Gamestop looked was cool.  I could be crazy here but I thought that the case they had the 360 in (The one with the Samsung LCD TV display and 360 stand) was refrigerated somehow.  I know this sounds ridiculous but when I put my hand at the bottom of it it was very cool.  Not like room temperature cool but more like car air conditioning cool.
