Title: Xbox360 Kiosk Unit
Post by: XpertON3 on November 04, 2005, 11:25:00 AM
Hey guys, my store just recieved our kiosk unit.....here are a couple of things i noticed about it....maybe u guys know already, maybe not, but anyways here goes....
1.  There was no faceplate on the unit...it looks like it was the lower end xbox360 with a HDD, no platinum faceplate, it just had the chrome finish on the dvd drive.
2.  I read a while ago that the games were preloaded on the HDD.....WRONG!!!, they are on a DEMO DISK, i took pix of the disk with my cell i will post them if u like.
3.  There was an extra USB A-B cable that was with the console as well...no where in the manual does it say anything about that cable.
4.  The controllers were not wireless, they were the wired ones....
5.  There is room for a memory card slot on the front of the Kiosk unit.....i guess they will start to include bonus conent on the demo disks if you have a memory card handy...

thats all.....

have a nice day.

1. The Faceplate was on the unit... the one that comes with the console is called "Chill White" meaning it has NO DESIGN ON IT, ITS JUST WHITE. The Premium and the Core versions come with the same "Chill White" Faceplate. The Chrome on the DVD bezel denotes that is infact the Premium version (also the HARD DRIVE should have tipped you off).

2. Games DO come preloaded on the hard drive, Xbox Live Arcade Games to be exactly, in the retail units. Kiosks are not retail units the software is different Not to mention the demo games are NOT XBOX LIVE ARCADE GAMES. Since Kiosks are NOT RETAIL UNITS you can't expect to see the preloaded games and media that we'll get with the retail units. The pre-loaded stuff is meant to be a sort of surprise, showing it off in the kiosks would not only be pointless but spoil it.

3. Big deal... I highly doubt it come with the retail unit. It probably has something to do specifically with the kiosk... BTW aren't you supposed to wait for an MS rep to set it up instead of setting it up yourself?

4. No really? I would have though wireless would be much better suited for a highly volatile unwatched public environment. Especially an environment with lots of other wireless devices around.

5. Have you listened to anything MS has said? Since E3 they've boasted about distributing content through Kiosks
