Title: Bc And Changing Hard Drives
Post by: nj12nets on June 13, 2005, 06:06:00 AM
Now I know almost everyone on this site will want to change t hat 20 gb hdd for something much bigger if they can just use a interface converter or w/e  for the 2.5". Now I just realized something, if backwards compatability patches come on the hdd and you switch it, goodbye BC.  Now, to some its not a big deal, not even to me cause Im keeping my xbox but thats a good way for MS to stop piracy or at least a bigger hdd because some ppl will sell their xbox for money for a 360.  Theyll get it home and want to mod it cause of modding capabilities on the xbox and find out they cant cause they put in a bigger hdd, and if theres a xbox 1 emulator it wont be as smooth as MS official bc cause well, I think MS has more resources.

according to Seagate there will be 20 and 40gb HDD. not sure if larger is planned. And if moding to use other branded HDD you may not be able to play in LIVE to download patches etc..

How about creating and loading an image of the original drive to a new one? That should solve the problems and if you want to play live you just switch them back. if and when it can be modded im sure someone will hack the emu and add any features that MS missed out; similar to how they hacked the dvd playback so you can use the remote or how we can hack the MS dash to do a whole bunch of crap.

Amen, but you got to it before me.  Wouldn't even have to make an image.  You could just download all the BC stuff via FTP/IRC.  Or make an image.  No Biggie.

You are right....

Copying disc, ftp ? Come on... please just wait for the xbox... look at the security used... and wait for a hack .. I wonder how fast they will find a way to hack it ...

The fact that it has an easy upgradable harddisk will be great... if a softmod is possible, it would be gr8, as u can keep the original disk for playing on live :)

Im sure im not putting in a chip.... !

With kind regards
Marco
