this actually is not really good new for the 360, as the r520 is a seperate arch and is actually made along the same lines as traditional gpus, the 360 by contrast has a number of elements which are not found in the card, while the card itself has higher theoritical performance, how the R500 will compare is up in the air but the general consensus its going to do VERY well

Your title is a bit misleading. The R520 core is faster than two 6800 Ultra in SLI but is only Twice as fast as any card out now. Nonetheless this is very good news.

Does anyone know what GPU is in the Beta Dev kits?

your right, the price drop will make them a viable solution but people will only be able to easily have the choice of 2 last gen cards in sli when it is standard on chipsets,... then you have to choose between a nvidia sli, or ati crossfire supported mobo.
or if you're like me and have been using the same hardware for 4years you will need to build a new pc just for that new card,.... so i will game on my 360 and build a TB file server instead of a gaming rig, I could get a few nice drives for the cost of a new vid-card

Considering that the Nvidia chip for the PS3 has not even been taped out yet, we dont know it will have less power. And as if there is any big difference between Nvidia and ATI  rolleyes.gif The systems will have similar GFX just as ATI and Nvidia do on the PC.
