Title: What Ever Happened To The "2 Models"?

Originally, they were talking about 2 models.  I have not heard anything about this recently (since E3) and never did think that this would fly.  Devs would have to make games that did and didn't utilize the HD, bad idea.  And some consoles wouldn't be backwards compatible and some would?

Any thoughts/news?

That was an old plan, there will only be one hardware version at launch. Other things might be introduced later on like hd-dvd/blu-ray for example.

It would not be very smart to introduce two models. Developers dont want to have to deal with having a hard drive and not having it, especially with DVD9 being used. They may make a game that is so large is has to decompress to the temp partitions of the hard drive, but then they're screwed on the light model.

"Gesh" He was just asking a question. And i knew exactly what the topic meant aswell.
If you have been around for longer than a few month's then im sure you have read somehting about the rumoured 3 models of Xbox360. One with hard drive, one without and one PC verison. "What Ever Happened To The "2 Models"?" Is crystal clear in it's meaning.
I don't think MS have either confirmed or denied the rumours that there will there be more than one model for the Xbox360. All they have said is that there will only be one this holiday season. Im guessing there *may* be a new model with support for whatever HD Video format becomes mainstream (HD-DVD or Blueray). Things can change.

i had no problem understanding what the title was talking about either.
As buddha explained; there was alot of talk about the two models before the unveiling.

Thanks for backing me up with my "unclear title" guys.
Also, thanks for the answer.  Hope they do come out with Blu-Ray or HD-DVD.  That would be nicem however I have it preordered so I won't get that for a while.
