Too many frickin gimmicks. One handed shields and traps? Like wtf how immature is the halo audience? Gimme a battle rifle and magnums etc and lets play a real game, not some plasma charged pressure sensitive one hit kill trap which you can do while holding a friggin shield. Who the fuck wants to continue playing a game when they come across a dude with a shield in one hand, combined with the already existing shield armor and then normal armor.
If it turns out to be this stupid, I'll opt for UT.

Someone should give that list to Bungie as a Do Not Do list. Except the live co-op. Everything else is pretty much shit.

Some of those are utter stupid, and some would be pretty cool and good.
Good things:
-ATV -BOATS -Using anything to attack enemies? -Dynamic Weather -Space Battles (Not too much) -Multiplayer Bots (I had to) -Live Co-op

The movable turrets are pretty cool, and just imagine beating somebody down with a turret!!!
Mines rock as well.

Halo3 should be a skill game again...
If you are a noob at halo1, and go play it online. U get your ass kicked big time... But on Halo2, they designed this game for the masses...
Everybody should be able to enjoy it ... and there fore they made it easier on the noobs...
Freaking SMG's .. which i really hate, a lot of vehicles etc....
With all those features, i dont enjoy most of the games hosted on xlink/live/xbc ...
U can have fun in custom games, but those arent the standard settings ...
Further more, halo3 should release with all multiplayer maps from 2 already included... It should feature a large number of maps... so players wont get bored with the excisting maps that fast....
With kind regards Marco

most of those ideas are pretty much stolen from other FPSs...
I thought originality made an FPS good... apparently that guy thinks otherwise

Everything has already been thought of so orginality has died. There in nothing more that is a cause for inovation in FPS of late.

well the innovation now come in how the games utilize the concepts we have as well as the new tech that becomes available...
Gears of War seems interesting to me; trying to combined FPS with Adventure Horror. and the idea of a cover based shooter where you can use destructive environments as your cover.
Prey seems to have some interesting concepts as well with the whole using gravity to change which way is up as well as the ability to leave your body. etc.
Unreal Championship was interesting in the way it tried to mesh mêlée fighter combat with traditional FPS combat.
They're not new concepts but they're using them in new and interesting ways.
As for New Tech: Watching the Prey demo I saw this mutated creature lunge at the player.. it was killed then I saw another mutated creature come around the corner... and it looked identical to the last one.
With the 360's ability to do things like generate random environments from high level descriptions in the next gen there should be no reason we ever see the same exact mutated creature (zombie, townsfolk, etc.) twice. AFAIK none of the new games save Oblivion are planning to make use of this tech yet. I think it could be beneficial to an FPS type game. Every monster is unique. If some mutated creature has his right arm growing out of his forehead... there is no goddamn reason the next one also has his right arm growing out of his forehead, both with cuts, scars, etc. in the same places.
They could use the tech to generate entire new levels on the fly, entire new creatures on the fly, etc. you could have a game that never ended, never playing the same level twice, never facing the same zombie twice... etc. Heck they could even go as far as to generate personalities on the fly. One zombie is overly aggressive while another zombie is more defensive and strategic etc.
I'm sure there will be other kinds of innovations that can be used with that type of technology as well as other new things with other new techs that will be available.
These are the kinds of innovations we should start seeing... and there are many more innovations that will become possible in the next generation, no one has thought of them yet and that's what makes them innovative

I'll drink to anything Halo, no matter what!
(But a shield?)
There are a few good ideas in there, especially online co-op, which should have been in Halo2.
