Title: Suggestion Make Matching Winxp Streaming Program
Post by: rgtaa on May 09, 2004, 04:34:00 AM
MOST of us would love a program that we start on PC and on xbox so it automatically works together!
It could be a SERVICE PROGRAM that matches the settings in XBOX!

With all the varied Streaming protocals and all the different ways to do stuff ...it's very confusing.

This way ...just like 99 percent of the stuff on xbox ... it works the same way for all of us.

Then if we want to change a setting ... we could ...and change the xlm ,ect ... once we got it working with DEFAULT stuff.

I say this because i spent a week trying to get streaming to work and still can't after reading the tutorials ... and in the past I didn't have problems with any other aspect of xbox modding and programs.

I know I'm not alone.

Also in past, once I got a build to work ... I was nervous to upgrade because all the possible ways to stream was confusing.

KEEP IT SIMPLE!

p.s. I know I'm ranting just a little bit ... but it has come from Frustration and Confusion.  Many people have been very kind and patient with some of us ... and I'm just suggesting they all LOOK at a STREAMLINED way to STREAM to xbox and do the other stuff in Streamlined way.  With MATCHING PC program and XBOX bundled together with correct settings in place with CRYSTAL CLEAR SIMPLE DIRECTIONS! :)  <

smb and ccx have great tutorials, and if you follow them it works.

I can understand those working with smb on linux, but then again, they have ccx and the xns protocol to work with.

Setting up a working stream should take no more then 1 hour even with massive amounts of problems...

I just say this becouse why work on something that is dirt simple if following instructions?

Example:

1: Download and installl ccxgui
2: Start the program and check so the streamserver is started.
3: Drag and drop the folders you wanna share to the ccxgui window
4: Edit the xboxmediacenter.xml so the xbms:// tag is set right.

(Example: xbms://192.168.0.1:1400/Movies where 192.168.0.1 is the ip to the pc,1400 is the port used and Movies the name of the share in ccxgui or you can just use the ip and port and see ALL shares in ccxgui within one tag)

It realy is that simple, and it takes under 5 minutes setting everything up.
