SS stands for security sector, sectors on the disc which store, unsurprisingly, security information. The angles measured are those of the security sectors in relation to each other. This is not an easy thing for people to duplicate, which is why we have iXtreme.
Kreon drives don't actually measure the angle when ripping, but instead use the same value for every game. Older 0800 firmwares on 360 drives make the actual measurement one time. Newer 0800 firmwares make the measurement twice to verify the accuracy. This is what's known as SSv2.

Maybe the drive hardware isn't sophisticated enough to do that, or there aren't instructions for it. There are a number of possible reasons, but I'm not sure which one is the case. Try searching the technical forums at XboxHacker.net.
