can you connect it to a SATA port on your MB, sometime thru an addon card is not ideal.

I had the same problem when I tried using my VIA card connected to my KREON drive.  After some research I discovered that the VIA6421 does not allow the raw dump needed for Kreon to work.  If you do not have on board SATA buy a Silicon Image sata card with the 3512 chipset.  I've had no issues or coasters since using the SI3512 card.   Its on EBAY roughly $15-$20.

The VIA6421 issue must just be for the KREON drive.. I'm using a BenQ VAD6038 with 0800 firmware, connected to a VIA6421 card, and i have no issues at all ripping.

the occasional problem with the 6421 is with the Kreon, not benq or samsung
