You kidding? You can get 50 memorex for 40-50 dollars anywhere online.

Yeah, it is definitely the other way around. When I went to Bestbuy they had 3 Verbatim discs for $15, or 10 Sony discs for $20...so I took the risk with the Sony discs. They work perfectly (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
I would say it is a hit and miss with anything other then Verbatim, I have just had great luck with my dvd drive and the Sony discs.

Did you burn the Memorex at 2.4x? I've heard reviews that say at 2.4x the Memorex are as reliable as any other brand.

I ordered a pack of Verbatim DL 2.4x (20 pack) for 32 shipped (to Canada) guaranteed to be MIS.
So long as I don't get coasters and it prolongs the life of my backups/xbox 360 and makes more authentic backups compared to the originals, I don't midn spending the extra 50 cents per backup compared to Memorex.

Smart move. Not saying that you can't get backups that are decent with the other discs but you definitely have significantly more variables with results that can be all over the place (much more of a gamble). Can't tell you how many times we have seen it come up on this forum. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) Anyways, I have done a lot of media research over the last 5 years or so, and so I do tend to come off a bit snobbish and irritated when I see so many reviews claiming that Memorex is just as good as Verbatim, when they don't even bother posting things such as error rate scans, hardware configurations or comparisons with other people (let alone that they don't even have a clue about the fact that Ritek/Ricoh produce Memorex DL media or that MIS Verbatim is all produced by Mitsubishi Kagaku Media in Singapore). Just always remember that the media manufacturer is a much better indicator of what kind of quality to expect, rather than the brand name label (since some labels have multiple manufacturers with varying quality standards all under the same brand label and they can change them at the drop of a hat).

after about three times returning sony, memorex, dynex, etc... discs (bestbuy has always taken them back minus one disc Ive tried) Ill stick to verbatim MIS thank you very much.
It really is hit or miss, its like they will work ok, but no where near what they should.
