OK. So local Radioshack has this sale on this "MadDog" brand DVD drive...I am like...well...wtf...lemme just see what it is.
Looks good, can't do my laundry, but can do everything else, including lightscribe...of which I don't care about...but still...kinda cool having that possibility.
But the drive brand is Maddog...so I am like ya fuck that...but it is 20 bucks, and it is 20 bucks because it is "limited quantity" or some shit. And there is only 1 on the shelf...so I want to know should I buy this thing or not NOW because I don't want some fucker to come along and pick it up before me.
Now I know what you are thinking, Maddog optical drive...don't buy it, I looked it up on the internet, and it is actually just a Samsung SH-182M drive with Maddog stamped on it. The firmware updates on the maddog site for the drive are the exact same file names as the firmware updates on the samsung site....
I checked the product manual, says it auto bitsets to DVD-ROM, but there is also a Bitsetting utility available for download...so I am pretty sure I can get a DVD+DL disc to burn DVD-ROM
But how reliable are the burns?
On newegg...there are like 750 some 5 star reviews...and like around 50 1 star reviews...can't remember 2, 3, and 4 stars though...
Should I buy this 20 dollars thing? Or should I wait in the mail for a Pioneer that will cost me more?
Should I buy this? Or should I just say blow it?
