Title: Unable To Backup Condemned 2
Post by: Eluder on March 13, 2008, 06:13:00 PM
I'm having problems backing up Condemned 2: Bloodshot.  I tried both XBCr 2.80 and Schtrom 3.4 and they seem to have trouble with the security sector.  They'll get to it and pretty much hang, the timers will keep moving in the software, but they won't seem to go anywhere and when I try to close the programs, they're pretty much hung.  I'm using a Kreon flashed Samsung SH-D163B under Vista 64Bit and I've backed up other games before w/o any major issues.  Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.

I am having the same problem but haven't received any responses to my question either. The game I am having the problem with is MX vs ATV Untamed. It looks like there is some new protection of some sort for these games.

What's TP?  And any ideas why changing the profile to the SH-D163A, but using the same drive (SH-D163B) actually works with Condemned 2?

tp = Turning Point

No idea other than a guess if Con 2 is using newer protection and maybe turning point is using same thing, the ss extraction is being blocked with most firmware and changing drive type is confusing the protection or maybe you just got lucky and disc would have read if selecting 163b because of some scratch dirt on disc.

It will need someone with first hand knowledge of response and custom commands to tell you exactly why if for none of the reasons above

The disc is definitely not scratched etc, that's something I checked after I saw the error.  It's also dust free, same goes for the drive... everything is pretty much brand new still.

My copy of MX vs ATV Untamed that is having this same problem is brand new with no scratches or scuffs of any kinds.

Try to extract the SS.bin with your xbox 360 drive...
M$ might have found a bug in the Kreon firmware or so...
If they would make it impossible to extract it with the original 360 drives they couldnt check/extract it anymore either when you connect to xbox live which would be pretty stupid
I will try to get my hands on one of these games tomorrow but I cant promise anything because it is a small store...

Now getting the same issue with Dark Sector.

Someone out there, whether it be RedLine99 or Kreon really needs to get this issue rectified!

Interesting, I reflashed my drive with the Kreon firmware and this time I was able to extract the SS and create a working image without issue.  I'll have to see if other new games give me problems in the future after reflashing.

I've found that the Kreon drive can have problems from time to time reading the SS from games. One thing that I've found that always works is to reboot the system (XP) with the game already in the Kreon drive. It seems to fully recognize it that way.

well im not sure if its legal for me to ask so if not pls just say so and dont flame me.

i dont have a kreon drive, i am using wxripper cuz i have a hitchi. does anyone have the ss, pfi, and dmi files for ntsc?

again if its not ok for me to ask its ok. i just cant extract these files because i onlt have a pioneer 215 to rip my games . thanks!

Wow, I've just read 6 posts, all of which are you asking the same thing. In no less than four of those posts, someone has given you a clear answer as to what your trouble was and what you can do about it. Just a suggestion -- when you ask for help, at least have the courtesy to read and understand the replies that are given to you.

You can't just plop in whatever ss/pfi/dmi you want, as they're all interrelated to the default.xex (the game executable). If they're mis-matched, the game won't be stealth, and in turn won't boot on the later iXtreme versions. However, if there's an entry in the stealth db that matches your pressing, it'll allow you to use those.

As others suggested, if you want to backup your games, you'll definitely want to do that either with a kreon drive, or a 360 Samsung or BenQ.

Its also against the rules to ask for those files.

Man ole man this is really weird for my Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter is doing the exact same thing. In reading all the posts in this thread I have all those games and have made perfect backups of each of them. I still haven't rebooted yet though for I plan to do so after all the updates are completed.

Well after rebooting still the same thing. I've tried switching the drive's profile to all and still nothing. While reading GRAW it just hangs at 254MB at the start of the security sector. Does anyone know why this is because I'm fresh out of ideas concerning this matter?

Tried reflashing the drive with the Kreon firmware?

I did manage to reflash the drive and it was the disc itself. Yep, I had a bad defective game disc that I had to take back and exchange for a new tested one. So there ya go.....sometimes the game itself is bad. When I loaded the game into my console it gave me the "In order to play this game place it into an Xbox 360 console". That's when I figured that it was not the software or my drive.
